Interesting interestin interesting

Great book that gives insights into human relations and the self!
This is one of those books that pushes you to rethink everything you know and have been doing about human relations. After reading this book, I decided to seek for another fulfilling job as I realised that I have been in a hostage situation for a long time and had no idea that it was so. I am actually waiting on feedback from the new job to call me. This is a must read if you want to improve your overall human interaction experience , be it professional or personal.

A SOOTHING AND PEACEFUL PRESENCE IN A DELICATE NEGOTIATION
A SOOTHING AND PEACEFUL PRESENCE IN A DELICATE NEGOTIATIONI had been very impressed by George Kohlrieser’s book “Hostage at the table” when I first read it in 2009, and I chose to read the book again today and note the impressions and thoughts that came to me :A BREATH OF FRESH AIR that cleanses the fog of pressure.A SHELTER, a refuge, a space to recharge batteries.A SAFE PLACE OF SUPPORT to go back to when feeling uncomfortable.THE RIGHT COMPANION book before, during, and after a separation.A GUIDELINE, with landmarks realigning the mind’s eye on the path of negotiation.A SPACE OF AWARENESS : do I feel tense ? do I feel inhibited ? Is my heart beating too fast ? What happens when I sit in front of a blank page, get up, do something else, when I go round in circles ? I realize that the focus of my mind’s eye is going astray.AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF BLOCKED GRIEF : being taken hostage by fear, frustration, worry disappointment, demotivation, resistance to change, etc.. And the benefit of unlocking blocked grief.THE IMPORTANCE OF GRIEF : expressing emotions, getting in touch with the pain, saying Goodbye before saying Hello again, processing through the stages of grief, in life and at work.THE POWER OF EMBRACING GRIEF, getting hostage free, to deliver changeA PAIR OF GLASSES : where am I, where am I going, and how am I getting there?A TASTE OF FISH : is the fish on the table ? Are the unspoken things named ? Is there any bonding ? Are all the ingredients for dialogue and negotiation present ?A PLACE TO UNLOCK DISCOMFORT : getting away from fearing the other’s fear, which creates 2 hostages instead of 1 and regain self power.A TRIGGER OF RECONNECTION to self and others. The importance of keeping bonding with oneself and others, even if not reciprocated for a time, when facing unblocked griefs within other.THE POWERFUL FEELING OF FREEDOM after saying a proper “Goodbye”, after clarifiying unfinished situations.A SOOTHING AND PEACEFUL PRESENCE : When I feel my mind’s eye is going astray, I now glance at the book or even go physically to it, wondering “what am I a hostage of“? “Worry, fear, inhibition, internal conflict between what I want to do and what I should do, or something else”? The result is that my internal state changes immediately, refocusing my mind’s eye towards serenity. The book is a secure base in itself.A delicate negotiation is like a delivery. “Hostage at the table” acts like a special “delivery coach” tuning sound and vibration throughout labour and delivery, harmonizing the right limbic part of the brain (“want”, emotions, creativity) and the left cortex of the brain, (“should”, thinking, rational).A trigger of change, and a trigger of action.A DELIGHTFUL SOURCE OF INSPIRATION AND A GIFT. Thank you George !My heart, my mind, my body, and my spirit are stimulated. My state of mind feels hostage-free with George Kohlrieser’s “Hostage at the table”, a wonderful and clarifying book, which i mention to many friends and clients.Reviewed by : Marianne C.
