I bought this product for my wife with some apprehension. Suffice to say that she is not very careful with electronics stuff. She had been using this product for mixing dough every day for several months. The bowl size is good for a small family. Looks delicate though. Motor is very strong. The dough hook is thin. I thought the product will not last a month, but it is still running after several months of some heavy duty dough mixing. I suspect it will breeze though cake jobs. Go for this one without further research! UPDATE: I am adding this bit after a couple of years. We stopped using this product because of issues with bowl. It lost its stability and kept slipping. If Bosch switches to heavy duty steel bowl and makes grooves more sturdy, this product could become as indispensable as a mixer.

if you are buying for kneading dough for chapati then look elsewhere. we need a more powerful motor for kneading. I wish Bosch introduces more model with powerful motor.

This is just what I needed to make cakes for a local cafe. I've owned one of the larger ones in the past and the beater didn't seem to mix very well as it seemed too small for the bowl.This mixer is just perfect. I can switch it on to mix while I'm prepping other ingredients and it whips up buttercream with no issue at all.I like the spinning bowl and the light weight of the whole appliance. Easy to use, clean and store

Update: Still have it 7 years later and works absolutely fineI was looking for a dough mixer as I am fond of baking and since i can't afford the electric one, I was really happy o find a hand mixer with a stand bowl so it has the advantage of both not expensive like the electric ones and in the same time it is easy to use and time saving because of the bowl. When it arrived it was well packed. Although It was the day before my birthday but I couldn't wait and immediately made the cake. It was awesome, the stand bowel spared time to do other things and it is silent not noisy like my previous one. All of all , I am very very happy with this purchase.NB) for those who said the attachment for the egg is flimsy, this is not true as i used it to mix a cake dough and it did it pretty well.secondly, don't forget it is only 350 W so try to turn it off every 2 minutes so the motor wouldn't burn. I bought this to replace my ancient but compact Kenwood stand mixer which blew up on me and. I was surprised at how much larger the Bosch one is (36 cm tall, 24 cm deep. 32 cm long). I've used it satisfactorily quite a few times (mainly for making desserts, whipping cream and egg whites), although I agree that it is necessary to tip it slightly to one side and use a spatula to mix the contents thoroughly as the beaters do not touch the bottom of the bowl. I am concerned about the longevity of the various levers as the plastic mechanisms sound and feel quite weak but I'm taking care to be gentle and nothing has gone wrong yet!
