My husband and I drink alcohol on a daily basis, and milk thistle helps keep our liver tests in the normal range when we get our physicals every year. We recommend milk thistle to all of our friends who drink alcohol. The other bonus is that it also helps keep our cholesterol levels in the normal range. We have been taking milk thistle every day for the last 18 years. I am happy to have found an organic source for our supplement. Starwest Botanicals sells the seed in whole and powdered form. I use my Vitamix blender to grind the whole seeds. The powder does not dissolve in liquid; it's like sand, so usually I have to swish some water around in my drinking glass to get all the grit out of the bottom to drink down. I add the powder to apple juice or include it in my smoothies. It has no taste, so it's easy to take.

I have bought these several times. They're always very clean and well packaged. I usually soak them overnight then put one teaspoon in a smoothie. But they can be sprouted. I found if I take more than a teaspoon of them I may get a sore throat the next day. This may be a reaction unique to me. I sprouted some of them and have moved them into my garden. All parts of this plant are edible and have health benefits. For a while I was removing the thistles from the leaves before they go into my smoothie but I have found that the Vitamix blender totally destroys the thistles and I blend them with the rest of the leaf.

I had ordered the wrong seeds, I wanted ground to powder ones. . .but it was my fault. . .However this company is great and they even refunded my money and not only that they said I could keep the seeds. . .I plan to grind them as I encapsulate all my herbs, as most herbs seem to work better in our systems that way. t this company is super; I made a mistake and ordered the full seeds instead of the ground to powder ones and the company refunded my money and said I could keep the seeds, so I will grind them myself. Sure can't ask more than that.
