Worked for my bathroom sink clog
I hate using harsh chemicals but my other attempts to keep the sink clog free only worked for a short time -those included putting half to a whole small box of baking soda in the sink and then pouring a ton of vinegar on top followed by a big pot full of steaming hot water. I had some good luck with this but the sink would inevitably drain slowly and over time reach the point of constant standing water again. Finally broke down and decided to go the heavy chem route. I decided my sink clog is some combination of hair and or long-term buildup from castile soaps or oils (occasionally I've done oil pulling with coconut oil after brushing my teeth just to clean below my gum line) and possibly toothpaste.I could see the amount on the instructions on the bottle, so I just poured about half the bottle (fyi... I now see it's supposed to be 1/5) -at the time, I did not have any standing water in the drain so maybe the extra amount was a good thing as the gel immediately vanished down into the drain. I left it alone and forgot all about it. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour later I remembered and heated a big pot of water on the stove and poured it down -it vanished lickety split. I followed this up by letting the hot water from the faucet run for several minutes. A few days later, I put a little bit of baking soda (w/o vinegar) down the drain to make it extra fresh. I would not recommend using baking soda or vinegar or anything else besides hot water with this product or within a few days after using it -you never know if the chemicals will make some reaction in your pipes. All in all, I was happy with this product. I think the important thing is to try to guess what the cause of your clog is -hair, grease, did something fall down and block the path? If you can identify what the cause is, you can select the correct product for the job. I would recommend using this no more than a few times in a year -exposure to chemicals like this cannot be healthy. Store properly so your kids/pets can't get near it. Don't let it drip on your skin or any surface other than your sink/tub -it might corrode/damage it. I wore blue doctors gloves when handling and was extra careful not to let the product drip down the side of the bottle or on me.Clogs are a b----. Good luck with yours.

Tell me how much 1/5 is
Drano Max Gel works just as well as one might expect, the product works fine. However, the instructions say pour 1/5 of the 80 oz. container into the drain. How much is 1/5? Am I supposed to be using a measuring cup to pour out 16 ounces of drain opener? Even if it costs a little bit more, I'll be going back to the smaller containers, where it *shows* me how much to pour out, rather than having to guess every time.

Always keep some around!
While drain snakes are safer on pipes, I have never had an issue with Drain-O!Fixed my clogged shower after following the instructions on the bottle and treating twice.
