Great costume history
This is a very good book and goes well with the corresponding men’s suits book. It goes into great detail as to the various different shapes and silhouettes that were popular in different time frames.

I found this by chance, and LOVE it.
It should be noted that I am not a fashion historian, though I do have a passion for historical fashion and its nuances.I've been looking for reference books similar to this for a while, and this one does a beautiful job of discussing context, changes, fashion in art (so you can see how it influences daily fashion). It's extremely well made, and very well formatted.I will say I was hesitant just because of one person's comment about using a magnifying glass to read the pages, but to be honest.... I don't find that an issue at all. Yes, it's smaller (hence attached reference photo) but I find it easily readable, but I'm also looking closely at the all the details. I personally have no regrets. Would definitely recommend this is to anyone seeking more info. (Or to any movie makers who need to figure out the fashion needed for a timeline for a show/series).

Fantastic for research
I bought this book to help me have the language I needed to describe period fashions in the historical romances I write and edit. Absolutely fantastic edition to my research kit
