Holds up well, tons better than plastic!
I have been very happy with these. I don't have any problem with these falling apart and I dispose of them but once a week. I use the YukChuk under the sink container and I have a very cool home, even in the summer so my compost doesn't break down much in the container. I was thinking that in a warmer house and some active decomposition might be the issue with the folks who are finding the bags leak/break. We use them for the dog poop bin too since its a perfect fit and no breaking after a week there either (also kept in a cool under the eaves). Mostly I am happy that this will ship to CA which has such bizarre laws about this stuff. Although they don't decompose as quickly as the produce in the compost bin (I dump the compost into the bin and the bag into the trash much of the time so as to not have bags build up in the bin), they do break down (I'm guessing it will take a year at the rate I am witnessing in my sitting bin which I don't turn often) which is better than 400 years and makes me feel much better about what I am adding to the environment.

they tear...
good in theory but not in practice... bags tear so easily they are essentially worthless. better off just throwing your stuff in a bucket and washing it out each time which I have to do anyway as the bags leak/teak...

Strong, sturdy, last a full week without a mess - - - perfect fit for OXO countertop bins
Previously used Ucan Untrash bags and loved them . . . until they stopped selling the bags separately.Used Biobags and Norpro in the past but those began breaking down before we could fill them and take them down to our compost bin. Mind you, we are a family of just 2, so it takes us about a week to fill a 2.5/3 gallon bag. Another option is obviously to take them down to the compost bin while still only half full, but that's a waste of money and time, so I searched for other options.Tried these YukChuk bags and they are GREAT!We use the OXO countertop compost bin and these bags fit perfectly. I remove the lid of the OXO bin, place a bag inside the bin, fold the excess over the top, then snap the bin back on. No mess, perfect fit and the bags stay strong and sturdy an entire week until we're able to fill them sufficiently.

Good only if you empty your bucket every 2-3 days
Love the idea, but you really can't leave this bag in the compost bucket for more than a few days before it starts to leak.Months later,At the same time, they're strong enough that after dumping them in my compost bin, leaking and wet, after that, they don't seem to break down to readily. I have a compost bin filled with bags. Granted, I use the lazy man method and don't pitch-fork it often enough to mix the pot.Meh. I think after using up what I purchased, I'll go back to recycling my produce vege bags from the supermarket. A little more nasty dumping out the compost and throwing away the used bags, but I think everything was breaking down more trail in the bin.

Manufacturing Error on Last Batch - All the bags split down the side
We have been paying the premium for the YukChuck bags to go with our green bin. I am giving 2 stars because in the past they have been good bags. However, this latest round seems to have had a manufacturing error. They all split down the side when you try to open them, making them useless. We have been very gentle when opening the bag and occasionally gotten one open without tearing. However, the weight of the greens then causes it to tear.We bought them in "bulk" so we are just finding this issue even though we bought them months ago. We are not able to return because it has been so long.

Absolute Garbage
The first batch of bags I got with the dispenser for the YuKChuk bin worked OK, but these replacements are absolute garbage. Since they have no elasticity, the slightest pressure will cause them to burst or tear. Just getting a new bag from the roll always causes the next bag to have numerous tears in the top of it. Unfolding the rolled bag is a futile effort of tedious nonsense, and trying to put the bag in the bin itself with a tiny bit of bag folded over the lip as is common in a trash can always results in a massive tear. I have thrown most of them away immediately because of the tears.Even if the bag doesn't tear, it usually starts to break down enough in the bin for any juice inside to leak out, making it pointless. That said, I have had some of these bags in my compost bin for over 2 years now, and they are no more broken down than any regular plastic shopping bag. They might conform to some standard, but they are just garbage for home composting.Save your money and either recycle plastic shopping bags or don't use a bag at all.

Great bags and great customer service!
I have a YukChuk container and these bags fit it perfectly! I am extremely happy with the quality and the functionality of both. If I don't have very wet produce scraps in the bag, my husband actually reuses it for another few days after emptying. We haven't had them long enough to tell you how they break down in the compost bin outside, but that varies depending on the weather, compost mix, and heat, so I wouldn't hold it against them in any case. In addition, when I contacted the seller to let them know that a few bags at the beginning of the roll had slashes in them (seemingly from a box cutter), they immediately offered to send me new bags. I will definitely purchase these bags again in the future.

Used to be our favorite bags, but now they've been defective.
We used to love these bags - they were the perfect size and held up great even with wet scraps that sat in our bin for days. But the last two orders came with bags that split immediately when we open them. They are too expensive to have broken bags come right off the roll. It's a real shame, because we have been using them for years and have recommended them to so many friends. We'll give it one last shot, but if the bags continue to split, we will have to find another product.
