Buying a camera? Read this.
First: I received nothing for this review. This is important as many, many of the cheaper, Chinese "brand" cameras get their good reviews by bribing people to take down bad ones with free stuff.I own/have owned probably about 15 trail cameras and have had them out in the woods in both freezing temperatures and 100+ degrees and 100% humidity. Except for this brand and the expensive American brands (Browning), they all break fairly quickly. Putting a camera in a great spot and coming back weeks later to find the camera took zero pictures is the ultimate bummer. Don't buy bs like "wosoda" and "wosports". It will fail, quickly. This camera is affordable, reliable, packed with features, super easy to use and takes absolutely amazing footage. The night time stuff is remarkable, and better than any other camera I have-- including a 200 dollar Browning. I use my cameras to find and look at cool animals, not to hunt. Hence, my needs are actually significantly GREATER. I'm not trying to locate a buck to shoot (I click right past all the stupid white tail pics), I'm looking to view smaller, faster, more interesting animals. Many cameras take such crappy footage, that these smaller animals look like little white blurs at night, or just undistinguished brown blurs during the day. This camera catches astonishingly clear, detailed, night time imagery, and crystal clear day time imagery. I've included a video of a weasel. Note you can see the tip on the tail, the face, etc. In the bobcat photo, you can see accurate depth, detail and color. Most other cameras you get a washed out, pixelated piece of garbage. If you're new to this, just trust me.I OWN 5 OF THESE AND THEY'RE ALL GREAT. This is the camera for you if you need an affordable, very high quality product.

One of the better lesser-known-brand-models
We have been running dozens of different trailcams year-round for about a decade. We test out the occasional "cheap brands" that come and go on Amazon. Most of these seem very similar (software, design, etc) as if parts and software come from the same place, or there is constant "re-branding" going on. Issues were common (software crashing, water ingress, loss of contact with SD cards within hours or days after setting it regardless of card brand, date/time drifting, electrical buzzing sound over audio, etc). We hike all over the mountains and having any camera malfunction and missing footage when you have hiked two 12 hour round trips to set and check it is a pretty big issue. However, this review is not about THOSE cameras. This review is about the GardePro A3:We ordered two GardePro A3 cameras in early May. 2022 After a few weeks of running them, we did not encounter any major issues. The cameras ran the entire time. The motion detection works very well. The video quality is quite good. The sound is fairly good as well. We could hear the bears chewing grass near the camera. We did notice at the beginning of every video, there is a loud "woosh" sound for about 1.5 seconds, but it's easy to cut out with editing software. There has not been any water ingress from the rain we had so far. We did notice the tightness of the latches are inconsistent (loose on some cameras but tight on others) but all seam to close/seal enough that they do not leak.We were were optimistic enough about these cameras to order 2 more of them in early June 2022. Now we have a total of 4 and still no issues. The real test will be how the cameras hold up to coastal rain storms in the fall as well as Canadian winter. At these point these cameras seem very good overall. I will update the review if any issues arise.

Pretty amazing Trailcam for the price! ***Updated 10/27/20****
I have been using trail cameras to scout deer in MI since they had 35mm film in them, have always looked for a balance of quality and price. I do not need a camera to produce superb pictures I can blow up and frame for the wall, just need to accurately see what is happening in my area and have it be reliable in all conditions. I need a camera that performs as expected and is priced where I can get several and can count on them for 4-5 years of 5 months of typical conditions in the woods.I previously had been using Browning cameras with great success but recently they have gone up in price. I was looking for another option when I came across this one at Amazon. I was skeptical when it first arrived, so I set it up at home to test and was very impressed with the trigger and the distance it detected movement. In the first photo I attached, the subjects have bushes masking their movement and it still caught them in between. The distance to the fence is roughly 90 feet. It produced multiple shots like this over the course of an afternoon, even as the light faded. The other photos show examples of in field day/night time performance.I have placed my first GardePro A3 in the woods about a month ago and one thing I have learned is that these triggers are almost too sensitive. They easily detect long grass moving in the breeze and harsh changes in sunlight. I had to relocate accordingly. Fortunately there is a setting to change the sensitivity (low/medium/high). I left mine on high as I would rather it trigger too much than not when needed. These cameras also have side sensors which I think is a great idea to give the camera a chance to wake up as a subject approaches the field of vision for the lens. Night time shots seem to be good, with the occasional purple cast to the photo. I have not yet tried video. I will update when I get more results and opportunity to test all the settings/features.In summary, this is an excellent camera in terms of price, features and trigger sensitivity. I would recommend you give it a try. Daytime photos are excellent. Durability has not yet been determined and video testing has yet to be done.***UPDATE***One thing I have found is on the highest sensitivity settings you get a lot of false triggers/pics with no animal movement. I changed it to medium sensitivity and it works very well. I actually bought another one and they are the best cameras I have in use now. I am very impressed with the nighttime photos and the general trigger time of these cameras. Including a couple more photo examples.

Really great camera, especially in daylight
(The attached image is cropped way down, not the full frame)Great camera, especially in daylight, but it also works well in the dark (out to maybe 50 feet, after that it falls off pretty hard). In daylight its good generally, it does suffer with harsh contrast, try to place it such that the light is fairly even in the scene.Don't get fooled into caring that it can do big megapixels.. it doesn't matter.. The quality of the lens is such that anything over about 4mp is wasting space on your card... I can not see the difference between 4mp and 16mp - it simply doesn't have fine enough optics for that kind of sensor resolution to matter.Just the same, it takes pretty good photos considering what it is and the price.Motion detection is very good, doesn't false too much (if there is water in the scene all bets are off!).. Motion detection at night is really good, very few falses. Can't be beat for the price.. Simple, reliable and not too expensive.
