Metal masterpiece from Metallica reissued on Blackened Recordings. 2014 pressing.

It's not a real remaster - not like the Dio or Anthrax or even Megadeth remasters.
It's ok. But to this guitarist's ears - it's not really a remaster - still sounds the same as my 1986 cd. And I just finished comparing them back to back in my car. There's no audible difference between this remaster & the original 1986 cd. Not like the night & day difference for the Dio cds. The remasters of the Dio cds sound a 1000 times better than the original cds. This is just Metallica ripping their fans off again. I believe this is why I have more respect for Dave Mustaine & Megadeth. When he remasters something, he goes the extra mile.

Stick with the single CD remastered version
This review is only for the remastered 3 CD version, focusing on whether or not you should buy this one. This album, in my opinion, is one of the greatest albums of all time and is easily a 5 star album. I assume that most here already know that and are looking to upgrade their old CD to a fresh new remaster.I already have a 24 caret gold version of this album, not the original CD, so my comparison may not be the same as yours. The first CD of this is the original album remastered. Comparing the CDs with headphones the 2018 remaster is almost exactly the same as my gold CD. I can't recommend buying this if you happen to have the gold CD.The 2nd CD is rough versions of the album songs, and these are very rough. I sometimes like to hear alternate versions of songs, but these are so rough I can't really see myself listening to them again. I think they actually take away from the greatness of the original tracks. The 3rd CD is a concert. Sounds like a bootleg recording. If this is the best they could find, they probably shouldn't have bothered. I'll give it a few more listens, but it's very low quality and really only good for an historical account. The 3 CD version comes with an upgraded booklet which is nice and the package looks good.It pains me to give this 3 stars as it's one of my favorite albums. If you need to upgrade your old CD, just buy the single CD version as it's at a great price.

Record in great shape. No scratches
Record in great shape. No scratches, outside was in good condition, sounded fine. If you complain about the band, then listen to them for free somewhere first. These reviews aren't for your opinion on metallica. It's for the actual record. Idiots.

I double-dinged the score for the odd-sized CD packaging
I wish these companies would stick to the standard sized cases for CDs. This disc comes in a cardboard digipack which is the first transgression. But worse is that it comes in an odd size. it's slightly taller than a standard jewell case and will therefore not fit in any kind of shelving or storage bin designed for CDs. Seriously, wtf. It's just braindead to not think of these things when producing the packaging for the remaster.

Clarity of what you actually get for that $5.
The listing is confusing and it left me wondering. COME ON AMAZON. GIVE US SOME REAL DETAILS!!! Minimal descriptions are like hemroids. We all have to deal with them, but no one likes them. You get a BRAND NEW CD in a single paper sleeve.Sleeve is not rugged, but not flemsy.Sleeve is full color.Sleeve is paper.CD looks like one youd buy at your local music store. Its NEW. its NOT used.Great CD.I think I threw a muscle in my neck...Arrives in a single sleeve wrapped in shrinkwrap. Not a plastic jewelcase.Price is best anywhere.Buy it.

Beautiful music ruined by a horrible pressing.
Beware of the Blackened Records 2014 reissue. The pressing is awful and my brand new copy had a dozens skips across both sides. Check the discogs reviews listing for BLCKND005-1.

Pretty much totally rocks!
Sounds great, it's like I'm hearing things in the tracks I've never heard before, and with more impact. Improved sonics all the way around the sound spectrum for sure. And the included extras are like icing on the cake. The demos tracks CD and the live tracks CD (all performances taken from the Damage, INC tour) are all quite listenable. The 20 minute long interview with Cliff Burton was interesting to listen to but also sad since he is no longer with us. He seemed low-key and down to earth. He talks about how he was still living with his parents, etc. And looking through the included pictures, you really get a sense how young all band members still were at the time of the album's release.

2017 digi version Re -master of puppets 👍
Great CD 2017 digi version. (Everyone should already know that) Arrived in 2 days as does all Prime shipments ( Thanks Amazon workers) This is an album most (if not all) metal fans know quite well. The Remastering has not hurt it at all .. Sounds great!! .. One of the last Metallica albums to played in the style that is the 1st part of their name (Metal!!). Now they are more of a modern rock band (IMHO). Worth adding to any Metal collection (much more than anything they have done since then 😞)

Quiet Vinyl Mastering
Great, great album, but the vinyl mastering is very quiet. Dynamics and textures are all there, but I need to double the volume to actually hear it -which in turn amplifies the surface noise etc - a real shame.

A Lovely Album
This is a lovely album! Stormin' good stuff! Nice and heavy with great licks and lyrics. I think it was tragic bassist Cliff Burton's last record with Metallica - though I could be wrong, not being a massive Metallica fan. I hadn't heard 'Master Of Puppets' in many years and I'm glad I purchased it for a bargain price (£3.50 inc P&P). I'm starting to think I prefer it over '...And Justice For All...' (my previous favourite and the only other Metallica album I own). Actually I think they're both great albums from a transitional period in the bands career. Check that s*** out!

timeless
without a doubt, their best (in my opinion) every track kills and it brings me right back to when i first bought it back in the 80's when the band could play and knew how to deliver. i think the band should sit down and listen to this again and remember what they where about. bought it second hand so i don't increase their bulging bank balances. cannot stand them now. their music, style and prima donna attitudes.

One of the greats
If you're looking for one of the greatest rock/metal albums, then you have found the right one, what you have here is an album that can provide melodic sounds along with great heavy thrashing, but all of it has a great musical talent behind it, the voice of James Hetfield is a legend to behold, you have classics such as Master of Puppets which is almost known world wide, but you also have other songs that are not as well known but also provide the same ammount of power and emotion.I fully recomend this album to anyone who is into this type of music, it is one of them albums you can listen to over and over again and never get bored. The sound quality is clear and precise, over all the sound is top notch.the product came in perfect condition. So if you are even the slightest bit interested in this Album I recomend you order it right away, you will not be dissapointed! :)
