A nice improvement over my old one that stands at an angle. It's compact, well made and self contained.
The media could not be loaded. This is a well made compact slicer that I enjoyed using over my old one for may reasons.1. it has keeps a firm grip on the counter.2. Has a nice grip on the back end to hold it steady3. the Enclosed container to catch your sliced produce.4. The blades never have to venture far from the unit5. Easy to use and feels solidNow the pictures show that the blades are color coded but mine were all white. I don't really see that as an issue although it might have prevented you from a couple of unnecessary pulls to see which one you are grabbing. I sliced a ripe peach and it accomplished this job quite well. It's dishwasher safe and the holder that helps you go up and down over the blade stores in the bin underneath.

This is a useless piece of junk.
It sliced cucumbers with great effort, and the slices were very uneven. It shredded onion but basically broke off big chunks of onion and the prongs that held the onion broke.I had chosen this as a wedding registry item. After no guest purchased it, I ordered it, using cash from guests' gifts. What a waste of my wedding funds.

A real disappointment
Why is it so very hard to find a decent mandoline for less than $100? I don't know, but this one is definitely NOT the winner. To begin with it has essentially no instructions, the photos on the side are in the wrong order and you need to spend about 15 minutes just figuring out how to get out and change the blades. Once put to use just about everything else is not good. There is no adjustment on the straight cut blade or any of the other blades. So you have one thickness and one thickness only to choose from. Hope you like your food items sliced that thickness and that thickness works for your recipe because there is no choice. The blades are sharpish, so that is good although they are not the razor sharpness I would like. The food compartment for holding the sliced food is extremely small and fills up almost immediately when you start slicing. Once the compartment fills and the food no longer drops away from the blade (about half way through one regular potato) it becomes VERY difficult to continue cutting without emptying the food compartment and reassembling the mandoline. The food pusher does not fit the channel on the mandoline and it is very hard to keep it straight and to slice without it twisting off to the side and messing up the slice. Storage does not work well because the food pusher does not fit inside the compartment of the mandoline without being pushed down completely. When you put the slicer back on the compartment the pusher keeps it from snapping together and you need a large rubber band to keep it all together in storage. I was really disappointed in this slicer. I will return to my handheld slicer purchased from Amazon that costs $14.99 from OXO. OXO Good Grips Hand-Held Mandoline Slicer

Not very sharp, works well on soft vegetables but not harder ones.
I grew up watching Mom slice vegetables on an old Feemster slicer. It was truly like slicing veggies with a big razor, and the thickness was fully adjustable. Unfortunately, they are not made the same anymore and the search for the perfect affordable slicer seems never ending. I was anxious to see if the Faberware slicer would do a good job. Unfortunately, I was less than impressed with this gadget. The blades for this slicer are not very wide. The container is small, so you may need to position the top over a bowl if you are slicing a lot of vegetables. The blades are as sharp as I had hoped. They do an okay job with softer foods, like onions and apples and summer squash. I struggled with harder, dryer vegetables such as sweet potatoes and carrots. The julienne slicer took too much effort with potatoes, but handled softer zucchini quite well.I grated cheese on this and it wasn't a pleasant experience. The position was awkward, and there wasn't much grating surface so it took a while to use. A box grater is much faster and easier to use.The product description for this model references 5 blades, which appears to be a typo. There are 4 blades included with this slicer. There's a wavy slicer, a thin slicer, and grater. There's also a julienne fry slicer that is hidden in the top, and it should be reversed to use it. I don't know why the product description is filled with photos of a spiralizer, you won't get that with this product. My blades were all white, unlike the multicolor blades in the photo. I'm assuming this is because it's a review copy. As I used it, i thought it would be much improved if the blades were marked or made from different colors, so I wouldn't have to keep pulling them out to see which slicer I had. Consumer stock doesn't come from the same places as review items, so I'm assuming the one you purchase will be multi colored.Overall, I feel this slicer could use much improvement. Make the blades wider and sharper. Offer 2 thickness of straight slicing blades instead of just one, or include an adjustable thickness blade. Make the container larger. As it stands now, I would be hesitant to recommend it to my own family and friends.
