Yes, they can. My son switches them around on other guns.

I just bought the scope for my son's modulus and it should connect just like the picture (with the grey decorative button in the middle on the top of the scope). It can be attached either with the orange part as the eye piece or vice versa, with the grey part as the eye piece. I hope that helps!
