'Sounding Informed In Teams Meetings' For Dummies
Wanna sound like you're on the ball in those endless commercial meetings? Want to throw in new 'ideas' to get the marketing team excited (that won't go anywhere), suggest new product directions (that can't be developed in your firm but nice suggestion) and maybe get an idea of what your kids are talking about? Then this, my friend, is the book you have been waiting for!Not only does the hardback spine and title look GREAT on your Zoom bookshelves, it's full of bitesize 'tech tips' and directions for a wide array of innovations (and evolutions), formatted in a way that will let you get the exciting bit or, if you fancy shouting down a colleague, some predictable angles and phrases for naysayers too.The breadth of subjects is impressive, which leaves little depth - and the technologies aren't just hardware or even software, there are a few concepts thrown in to underline the idea that 'technologies' include social engineering and schools of thought, though there's little thinking around those pieces - it's very execution-heavy, essentially. When you consider that many of these technologies need a book this size just to discuss their impact on civilisation, humanity, the economy and resources, you might get an idea of how lightweight it is. But that's not to say it's not useful or well-informed. Consider it akin to Readers' Digest, but for geeks, and you're on the right lines - you'll get the bullet points from a year's worth of technical publications, some reasonably accurate statements around comms and tech, but not much philosophy, emotion or human angle.Gene manipulation is three paragraphs before some tech facts, for example... autonomous driving reads like a round up of SEO-optimised magazine articles and glossaries. There's little original insight - just a condensing of other experts' views.Which is actually pretty handy. I'm knocking it down a star for the lack of forward thinking (or perhaps even any original thinking), but it's a great time saver and if you're tasked with writing blog content and want to get some good solid facts on the subject, this isn't a bad starting point - and it's not a bad book (if somewhat dry) for getting a wider context on what's going on in the world without having to wade through too much editorial bias, unlike newspapers (or worse, unregulated blogs). Large, well-spaced print and a handy hardback size help, too.Given that it's near Christmas, this would be a good gift for relatives who maybe aren't professionals, but take a keen interest in communications, cars, internet tech - if they know the phrase 'augmented reality', have heard of bitcoin, or have opinions about self-driving cars, for example - they may well enjoy this a lot more than you'd expect.

Up to date and informative.
We hear so much about the fourth industrial revolution but many of us are not really aware of the true depth and extent of the latest changes and growth in technology and its capabilities. This book absolutely fills that gap in knowledge and it is aimed at people in business who may need to take on board these changes. It is a small book, so the information is concentrated rather than in-depth, but it certainly gives a very useful overview which is easy to understand and contextualise. The author is a well known futurist who is well respected in his field, so this is information straight from the coal face.

Great for aspiring web entrepreneurs
This is a really interesting and easy to follow account by expert on predictions and trends for future in terms of tech. It is written clearly into sensually and the layout is very easy to follow and isn’t to text dents very easy to take notes from as well if that’s what you’re after. Some ideas seem a little bit far-fetched but then when you think about how quickly we have developed In terms of technology over just the past decade it’s actually not that surprising and are definitely viable.I would recommend this for anyone interested in web entrepreneurship and thinking of ideas for the future and innovative things to invest in.
