Really good for SMD rework
I already have a USB microscope, but this one is so much better. The increased working distance allows easy use of tools without the lens getting in the way. The image quality is excellent. It's shame that it is not possible to display the image on the built in monitor and the computer at the same time (I was aware of this limitation when I bought it).

Excellent for the price
I really can’t criticise this for the price, sure there’s things that could maybe be improved on but it’s a good microscope for £350!

Digital microscope
I liked the large screen, the lighting and the colour rendition. I found that the stem was too short to take advantage of the possible magnification range. In any case it is nowhere near x300 except on a large TV monitor. The limited throat would not accept large specimens. I could not read the buttons on the bottom of the case. There was no noise associated with the shutter release as found on many other electronic microscopes. I have not used it with the software supplied so perhaps it is different when used in conjunction with a PC. I only use it occasionally and I would recommend a 19lXL Really Useful Box as a case.

Stopped working after 2 months.. only used it three times.
UPDATE.Apologies. This was purely user error, the unit was fine so I cancelled the replacement and kept the original unit. All is now good. The unit is quite impressive in what it can do for the money, but our unit stopped working (completely dead) after two months of ownership and only used three times. I now need to return the product for a replacement, if the replacement is better quality, i will adjust my review later.

poor quality product
While the actual scope is good....the rest of it is poor quality and ours has failed, suprisingly after the return date.

Excellent value
Very good microscope and display. The only issue is with the base plate PCB clips which are virtually useless when hand soldering. But without them the PCB slides everywhere so we attached some thin self-adhesive neoprene foam rubber sheet - works a treat and would recommend as an immediate modification! Overall, however, very good value and a huge improvement to peering down a conventional microscope

Does what it is meant for
Used for soldering, and the scope is doing the job.

Great microscope for soldering
I have a slight tremor in my hand, which makes soldering difficult in the best scenarios at times. I thought being able to have a larger view of the area would help in focusing more on the iron then squinting at the pins. It took a few minutes to orient to soldering by looking at a screen, but it has made a huge difference for me. Setup is quick and the unit is more solid than I expected. If the size of your soldering project allows for it, clamping the base to the workbench helped. Zoom adjusts and focuses well.

Displays a nice image. But has a few foibles.
Pretty good scope for PCB occasional work and just playing around. But is has a few issues. To be fair, I haven't had the scope long enough to see if a work around to any of these problems is possible. And I haven't approached Andonstar customer support yet.PROS:-Reasonably solid construction.-Has pretty good optical components: hi-res image sensor, lens and UV filter.CONS:-The remote is pretty bad. Mine worked intermittently and has a range of about a foot, when aimed right at the scope. (Yes, I tried various batteries!) And the rubber buttons sometimes stick in the down position. But the buttons under the LCD let you do pretty well anything you need without using the remote.-The vertical mounting post is too short. But this can be easily remedied by buying a pair of "mike stand extension tubes". Available on Amazon.ca for about $16. e.g: ASIN: B09MLKV575. (Thanks to Stuart V. for this suggestion.) I find the microscope to be far more useful with the larger vertical working distance so if you decide to buy one, get these extensions at the same time.-The 10" screen is pretty nice but freezes and becomes useless when you plug in an HDMI monitor.-The USB connector also causes the screen to freeze when plugged into a Windows PC. And this makes the microscope menu unavailable. Worse, on my PC, the USB port stays powered up even when the PC is asleep. So, if I ever want to use the microscope in freestanding mode, I have to physically disconnect the PC USB cable and power the microscope using the supplied dumb USB power supply.-The two outboard LED lights are very handy but run quite hot in full brightness mode. Makes me wonder how long they will last.Despite this list of issues, I still find this to be a useful addition to my workshop.

superbe appareil !
