Not respect you money and time!
Not respect you money and time!We buy from KitchenVirtue (seller) a Shun Dual Core VG0019 6-Inch Utility/Butchery Knife, a very beautiful knife.First of all he came, NOT sharp at all, even for tomato! Simply blunt knife for CDN$ 311.95Secondly, the sheath, probably is not for this knife or they terribly done. The knife simply slide out them, without any effort. We can’t close knife inside the sheath , because they smallest from a knife or the hole was drilled in wrong place?!?After we contact the KitchenVirtue (seller) for sheath replacement and compensation this was his final answer (five day ago):“Ah, I understand. I will review the situation tomorrow and find out what we can do if anything.”And soooo he did nothing!

Solid Knife Sheath Does Not Fit
As the previous review claimed, the sheath doesn't fit the knife which was a disappointment. The knife, however is solid quality and sharp. No complaints there.

They are the finest made and sharpest blades I have ever used
With this 6" Utility I have purchased 14 Shun knives.. The complete Kanso set (original, I still have to get the 3 new pieces), 2 8" Dual Core Kiritsuke, The limited edition Dual Core "Hana" Chef Knife, the odd Shun Ultimate Utility, and an extra 4" paring Kanso. I plan to give my brother in law a full set of the steak knives...They are the finest made and sharpest blades I have ever used. Now that I 'own' my kitchen (no more kids in the house) I gave away all my previous kitchen tools and started fresh with what I wanted... the Best! I am too fine a cook to put up with anything less."The saya does not fit" ...pffft! I could care less. My knives are displayed and available on a magnetic knife strip. I can always see them and they are always in reach for use. When the sunlight comes in the kitchen it hits my dual cores and sprays sparkling light as from a prism! I would not miss that by hiding these gorgeous works of steel in a wooden sheath!Similar to another comment, I never had much use for the 6" blade. My diet is all fish and shellfish and I use a devilishly thin and sharp Mac knife for skinning and filleting fish. However, I live in south Texas and we have mango and other marvelous soft skinned fruits all year round. I have been using the Kanso 6" far more than I ever would have expected. I am looking forward to relegating it back to my wife's needs exclusively come tomorrow when my dual core utility arrives---Got my knife today. It is, unsurprisingly, everything I expected.I wanted to edit this review and show my main knife set as described. In the image:1) Shun Hana dual core2) Shun 8" Kiritsuke dual core3) Shun 6" Utility dual core4) Shun Pro 6-1/2-Inch Usuba Knife5) Mac 7" Fillet knife6) Shun Ultimate Utility knife7) Cheapo 6" Santoku (probably going to replace it with a Shun 7" Hikari Santoku dual core)8) ZELITE INFINITY Serrated 5.5" Utility Knife [Shun does not yet make a dual core serrated blade and this will cut through anything!]As you can see... all knives are at hand and there is no need for a Saya. (BTW, my saya also did not fit... ;) )

So this is what a high quality blade feels like
This is my first high quality kitchen knife and it looks and feels amazing. This blade is sharp. And I made it even sharper. I've made a few batches of salsa, slicing meat and tough vegetables since arrival. Still sharp. Now I want a full set.

Wonderfully knife, so-so case.
Wonderful! This is the third dual core knife from Shun that I have. This (and all of them) is wonderfully sharp and beautiful to look at.I will buy more of this line when Shun comes out with them. One niggle: the case doesn't quite fit. This has been mentioned by other reviewers but the knife is spectacular so I can put up with a workaround on the case. The knife is the important thing and it is great.
