Functional, inexpensive chess set
It was inexpensive enough that I bought this as a single-use prop for a TTRPG.

Awesome & works well
The media could not be loaded. For the price of this travel chess set, is a no brainer; gotta buy (especially when on sale). There is NO FELT on bottom of pieces, but that’s okay, as it’s a travel set and the board is a plastic “vinyl” sticker type, and should hold up well. Will is scratch and get damaged, of course, but so will anything if rough and “try to damage”…regular play should be just fine for this. Besides, the for the price, can buy replacement “sticker” or new board/case and still be ahead from a desktop set. For the size, it’s not the traditional tiny chess set had as kid that made play impossible as would knock pieces off just by moving 1 piece; so I really like this. It’s not a standard desktop set size, but it is small enough to travel with, and large enough the if have hand/finger issues; should be fine being able to move pieces. Pieces, on day one a magnet did fall from a pawn, no biggy, slid right back in; and for good measure….I added 1 drop of CA/super glue to make sure stays put from now on. The rest are just fine. If pieces do break, able to buy new white/black set only at good price; but even if they do end up breaking (don’t see happening anytime soon), which everything “does” wear, not gonna ruin your play; unless as base where magnet is, and than again….can buy a new black/white set, or individual piece…not big deal.Case closes just fine, snaps shut tight, and with a satisfying CLICK; case opens kinda stiff but think over time will be easy; but not bothered because for a travel set THIS IS A GOOD THING, no!?Table in vid is 28” and when lifted set up it was 3.5 ft off ground and everything held perfect, no flex from case/board and pieces didn’t so much as “wink” on me. So, no worries about the magnets not holding to board; cuz they strong, and can even play on your fridge if want to, lol [just need paper as a board;) ].Yes, there’s some cosmetic “blemishes” in case, but not on squares or in anyway that affects game play or use of case/board; so not bothered, and I only saw them after took these pics…so your eyes will very.Others have said there boards are wavy, mine is not, along w/ “squares peeling up”, mine are not and don’t see them doing in future. Do live in south where very hot/humid (110° w/ 90% humidity) and set works just great outside on the beach, pool, in the car, kitchen table, and so on. Glad I bought and look forward to having fun.Any questions you’d like me to “try” to answer, let me know, till than; go ahead and buy one for yourself; heck, even a friend and have fun…..b/c in the end, it’s just a GAME:)

Nice for Road Trip
My 8-YO grandson is just learning to play chess, and he's going with us on a week-long trip to a timeshare and visit to cousins. What better way to spend down-time with him playing and me teaching on an easy-to-tote, store, and use magnetic chess set? No pieces to lose, while easy to move and place. Yes, it's kind of cheap, but it takes up little room, stores its pieces inside, and even fits under a car seat.

Good value
I would have thought I already owned “all the sets” by now, but I find I need a smaller set for analysis for my desk at work. I play a lot of online chess, and I like to go over my games on this board while the positions and exchanges are still fresh in my mind. This board is about 10” square (25.4 cm), which is a handy footprint next to my monitors, iPad, notation book, etc…. And it’s easy to nudge over to a corner of the desk when I need the workspace. The black-on-silver board would look more at home on a 1980’s electronic chess game, but it actually works well with the black and white (more like “buff”) chessmen.I have some other small sets, but they always seem to come with wonky-shaped, fat wooden pieces or (frankly) bizarrely shaped stone pieces. The chessmen in this set are very nicely formed Staunton minis. I wish they were felted pieces, but for $9 I’m willing to ignore that shortcoming. All together the board and pieces (for me) are easy to scan, and clearly distinguishable - a bonus for 53 yr-old eyes. The hinge on the folding board is … not great. Rather than use a metal hinge - or even plastic pins in sockets - this opens and closes by bending two creased tabs of soft plastic. Longevity may be an issue, but I paid $9 for board and pieces, so I won’t be too upset when the hinges eventually give out. I’ll just buy it again! So for my personal use, I am much more than satisfied. I don’t think I would “choose” this set over one of my tournament or designer sets if I were sitting down to play someone else, but for study and analysis, this is perfect for me.(Oh, everyone else seems ridiculously preoccupied with how well the pieces stick to the board, so here’s my take: they do. Yes, I turned the board over to see if they would all stay put - they did - but really, who’s going to carry it around all dressed in midgame?)

Chess set
Love the organization for each individual piece and the fact that they were magnetic

OK travel set but Magnets are very weak
Good set for travel as it is relatively small. Magnets are very weak. Have to make sure the chess pieces lie down when storing them or set won't close. Otherwise just OK.
