The dramatic beauty of beetle killed pine is displayed in this hand crafted cylindrical cache pot. It is 4 3/4" diameter x 4" tall and is sturdy enough to hold short utensils, desk top items, small treasures, make-up brushes, etc. This one of a kind item was hand turned in our workshop from a Lodge Pole Pine tree that died from the infestation of the Pine Bark Beetle in Grand County, CO. We harvest logs from standing dead trees. Structural cracks in the log were repaired with epoxy that coordinates with the dramatic blue-gray spalting distinctive to beetle killed trees (see photos). This bowl is finished with multiple coats of clear polyurethane in a satin sheen completed with bees wax, hand buffed to a protective gloss for easy maintenance.
