The Spiky belt is a great collection of tools to alleviate muscle pain (please always first consult with physician if you experience pain!), improve sleep and reduce stress! It functions in a simialr manner to SpikyLife mat. However, SpikyLife belt is smaller and can be easily carried around and used while sittling. It is a great tool for lower back muscle tension as it can be wrapped around lower back while sitting. Alleviate Muscle Pain Many users of SpikyLife tools report substantial reduction in muscle pain and tension. This is primarily due to increases in blood flow. Endogenous Opioid: Skin compression by SpikyLife’s mini-pins produces moderate pain-like sensation. The brain responds to these painful signals by producing endogenous opioids. Endogenous opioids (e.g. endorphin) have analgesic effects directed both at the site on the body that was stimulated by SpikyLife as well as other sites transmitting painful signals to the brain. Neural Adaptation: Consistent painful stimulation leads to depletion of neurotransmitters involved in transmitting the painful signal to the brain. This depletion of neurotransmitters may help to temporarily alleviate the pain. Improve Sleep Many users of SpikyLife products report having better sleep quality. The two main pathways by which SpikyLife is believed to improve sleep are: increased overall circulation and the hormesis-like effect. Improved Circulation: Compression produced by SpikyLife’s mini-pins increase blood flow to muscles thus helping them to relax. Getting rid of overall muscle tension promotes peaceful relaxation, therefore readying the body for sleep onset, followed by better quality of overall sleep. Recent research has shown beneficial effect of muscle relaxation on improving sleep and reducing insomnia symptoms.

great tool for relaxation and muscle release
My body is very happy and more relaxed since I started using SOMA System myofascial release tools. I have been teaching Pilates for several years and all of my clients, and myself, have muscle and fascia tension in some part of our bodies. I’ve tried various stretches, movement techniques and tools to help release this tension and SOMA System is a winner. Some of the most unique and interesting SOMA tools are the Spiky mat and the smaller Spiky mat belt. I first was introduced to these tools at a conference and I have to admit that the idea of lying on a spiky feeling mat scared me. However, I tried lying on the mat for several minutes and when I got up noticed increased blood flow and relaxation in the soft tissue of my back. At home, I use the larger Spiky mat and the Spiky mat belt together. I lie on the floor with my back on the mat. I put the Spiky belt over the SOMA small foam roller and rest my head and neck on the roller. I find these sessions relax me and release soft tissue tension.

Yes! Love this!
I've been an LMT and Pilates instructor since 1999 and a huge advocate of foam rollers and tennis ball use for trigger point and myofacial self work. I was introduced to Soma System at a pilates conference and tried the tools at their booth. I was hooked! This belt and the larger mat feel spectacular! This one is small enough to reach and use on places the larger mat cannot. I'm working up to longer sessions and working this one in where I can, I ordered the whole system and have been using each piece daily for the past 2 weeks. The circulation I feel after using this particular tool is warming and relaxing, but energizing. You will love this small one and the large one! The videos are very helpful and easy to follow. Highly recommend! I feel great overall and that these tools are aiding in fascial release.

My clients love this item
Ok, I was nervous to try this item. I really didn't believe it would help to alleviate the back and neck pain I have been struggling with for years. One week of dedicated work on this little guy and I am hooked. I have even begun to use it on my feet to improve circulation and help build strength in preparation for my next marathon. My clients love this item! I introduced this in my private sessions and it works like a charm. The perfect end to a long workout and a wonderful way to regroup after a grueling day.

These tools are amazing. As a Certified Pilates teacher for 12 years, I know that body rolling can be very helpful for myself and my clients. I have taken classes that use large foam rollers or balls but they just can't get to every spot in the body effectively. The SOMA system tools are genius and allow you to get precisely into every area of your body that needs attention. After using the SOMA System tools regularly for just 2 weeks, I have seen greater range of motion in my lower back which helps improve my Pilates workouts, especially exercises that require mobility in the spine such as The Roll Up. The spiky warm up belt helps stimulate and awaken the the body and prepare it for the session. If you are going to do self body work I would recommend the complete set of tools.

This pad is great for your hands neck or feet
This pad is great for your hands neck or feet. I love the feeling I get when I use it. I've never thought that I would use something like this to help my pain. You have to get used to it at first but once that's said and done it's wonderful. Its very relaxing makes me fall asleep. Love it. I have the larger one. I wish it would be longer.

I'm glad I tried the Spikes
(Recipient) I am desperate to find relief for the tightness, pain, numbness, tingling and reduced range of motion from muscles spasms (occurs daily) in different areas on the right side of my body, due an accident a year ago. I've been through different therapies and some medications. I requested this out of whim, and I'm glad I did. Effect is immediate, tight areas are loosened and relaxed. It does not stop the spasms, but provides a plenty of relief. I also drape it over my forehead. The customer support after purchase is awesome! They sent videos, individualized programs and link to an FB community (but I do not have FaceBook)
