The product information shown claims LTE connectivity for this device, but the model number appears to be for the non-LTE version. What's the scoop?

I bought my Samsung Frontier from another online store for $299.99 also like 3 months ago. I thought it was the LTE version but it's not. But you know what, you don't need it unless you plan to leave your phone at home. You can still dial the digital keypad on the watch to make calls, or click on a saved contacts, and even answer the watch and take calls, as long as your phone is within Bluetooth range. Buying the Tmobile version for $399.99 is a waste of money.

Is the watch unlocked? As in does it work with any cellular network

LTE is now available on the Gear S3 watch through T-Mobile. You can get unlimited calls, text messages, and data on your Gear S3 as a stand-alone phone for just $20/month (all taxes, fees included!) through the T-Mobile "One" plan for wearables. Yes, it's the worlds cheapest unlimited cell phone plan and your watch gets its own phone number. Note that if you're already a T-Mobile customer, that $20/month drops to just $5/month! AT&T's plan is almost $50/month for the same functionality. I've been using the Gear S3 LTE on T-Mobile for over 3 months and it's been flawlessly reliable. Hope that's helpful info to someone looking to make a decision to spend the extra $50 or not to purchase the LTE version of the Gear S3. It's worth it! By the way, although you can use the Gear S3 LTE version to make perfectly good calls using its own built-in speaker and microphone, you may want to consider spending another $40 - $50 and purchase the Samsung U Level Pro bluetooth headset. Unlike other some other ones I've tried (Plantronics M180, Jawbone) the Samsung branded headset (no surprise) works with ALL of the features of the Gear S3 watch and people claim it sounds amazing on their end during calls (once I covered up the 2nd mic located on the back of the headset at the nape of the neck with a piece of tape mind you). One more thing to also consider before purchasing a Gear S3 is whether or not your PARTICULAR Android phone supports the Samsung Gear Manager application from the Google Play Store. You'll need an Android phone to be able to load apps on the watch and configure other options via Bluetooth and MANY ANDROID PHONES (AND MOST ANDROID TABLETS INCLUDING SAMSUNG'S "TAB A" SERIES TABLETS) DO *NOT* WORK with the Samsung Gear Manager application (e.g. Nexus, Pixel, Huwei, etc). Consult Samsung's website for more info or check with your local phone store to see if your current model is compatible with the Samsung Gear Manager application. Note if you only have an Iphone, although the Samsung Gear Manager application was just released to the Apple store, only a fraction of the available functionality of the Gear S3 will be made available to you and you should probably consider just purchasing an Apple watch frankly. The gear s3 is somewhat resistant to water. so can i shower with it? will it ruin the speaker?

I used to swim alot with my water proof Seiko watch. Then I took it in a hot tub...the hot water/steam ruined it...the ip68 standard is refering to ambient temperature water. I would not use it in a hot shower or tub, unless you are looking for an expensive paper weight for your wrist. A cool shower would probably be ok.

Do you have to use Samsung apps with this phone or can you also download from Google play?

Apps are only from Samsung but if you are talking about watch faces you can install any of them using facer app. If you are talking about just the apps, then yes only Samsung apps.
