Okay for the very basics, examine your language around Asian food! Edit: off measurements
Edit: I've tried the jiaozi dough and bao dough as well as a filling recipe and the measurements and timings seem to be off, and now tried har gau and the recipe measurements are also off. I'm an experienced cook and have made these things before...not impressedI've followed this instagrammer and been a fan for a while and pre-ordered this book. The book is accessible but many of these recipes can be easily found on well established blogs from the Asian community or even her own Instagram which was disappointing. The book is an easy fun option with quirky drawings but I was surprised at the level the book was aimed at - I thought it would be more of an intermediate book, but it is quite basic - the store cupboard essentials section is good for beginners but maybe labels could have been helpful? Another point is the instructions on folding dumplings - v hard to do a picture tutorial but it wasn't clear or helpful at all and may have benefitted from description or even direction lines!Like another reviewer I was also a bit disappointed at the jiaozi filling selection. The 'science' section is interesting. However, a big issue is the racist language in some descriptions, and the lack of attribution/positioning herself as a white expert discovering the cuisine is depressing and frustrating.

Buy it, buy it now.
There are so many great things about this book I am just going to list them: gorgeous dishes that are authentic and range in complexity, beautiful book design and photography, simple and easy to follow recipes that avoid jumping about and losing the flow, explanations and guidance on not only the ingredients but the processes too - by no means necessary to read but gives you an understanding of why you are doing what you are doing rather than just following blindly, recipes for parts of dishes that can be mixed and matched as you please, a personal and genuine tone so that it doesn't lose the voice of Pippa herself, an honesty - not all dishes are 100% straight out of an Asian grandma's cookbook, some are just damn tasty, and finally by buying this you support a young woman following her love and making it into a career. Is it exhaustive? No, but what cookbook is? It is manageable, detailed and modular. Just buy it.

Love love LOVE
This book is fantastic! I wouldn't have had the confidence to make my own noodles before, but it is so much fun! And the taste is amazing! Every recipe I've tried had been delicious. I've even upgraded my pasta machine to a Marcato Atlas 150.I completely disagree with the review that said this book is very basic, it's not, not by a long shot, and there is *so* much content in it too. There's an brilliant trick for tenderising meat in this book which has changed the way I cook. I started off with some of the easier recipes and am looking forward to trying them all! Here's to more books from Pippa! 🤞🏻 (Specifically curry recipes, please, thanks 😂)

Uncomplicated Recipes, Great for Beginners.
I've been following Pippa's journey for a while now and have had this book on preorder! It's a great book for beginners and intermediate cooks. The recipes are easy to follow however there are a few inconsistencies in the book in terms of recipe references. I was disappointed not to see a larger section on creating fillings for dumplings and assembling ramen bowls also some sweet buns would have made a great addition but it leaves room for another extensive cookbook in the pipeline. I've already made three dishes which were well recieved by my family and have earmarked the Dan Dan noodles for this week!

Amazing
This is a great dumplings and noodles book . I love dumplings and normally buy ready made dumpling wrappers but to make dumplings and noodles from scratch from this wonderful book is joy and I have learnt so much from it especially the science behind it . Please IGNORE the 2 negative reviews by 2 girls who think oriental cookery books should only be written by orientals . I have learn so much from a Brit about Chinese dumplings, noodles and sauces to go with it .
