Pro Audio Mastering Made Easy: Give Your Mix a Commercial Sounding Finish Without Buying More Gear

This book is the best book about Mastering audio I came across. Bob Katz his books are excellent for basic Mastering knowledge, but David S Eley comes with examples and real life video tutorials that fit more in in today's EDM (electronic dance music) mixing and mastering needs. As a reader you are sucked in David's studio environment and can look over his shoulder and witness the techniques he describes in the book. This way you can learn really quick and try things out in your own studio. This book is not only for EDM, but also covers Mastering in general.

This book was very good in demystifying what the Mastering process really is, and how it's not a substitute for great performance\tracking and mixing. Only downside was that some links in the eBook take you to unfinished pages at website. Wish that would be corrected, but the book written a while ago.

The guy is really good explaining stuff, and goed the extra mile for you giving you links to step by step videos, and also gives you many songs without mastering for you to practice.

This book is great for those who want to get a deep enough understanding for the beginner and I believe a refresher for the master. Lol

Great source of info on mixing and mastering! Learned a lot. Theres a tip about creating depth thats worth the cost alone!

I absolutely love this book. Any one interested in advancing their mastering and mixing skills should read this book. Next book to read is Mastering audio the science and art of mastering by Bob Katz.

Having reached page 60 of 233 pages, it is hard to conclude other than that the writer is very good at the sound mixing and mastering techniques required in modern ie digital music-making.The style is easy to get along with too, and not the overly-chummy or colloquial indulgences that some deploy in this area. Learned one really terribly important thing already, and having got as far as releasing a song on itunes, I cannot say I am a novice.If you wanted to get just a single, well-rounded reference guide that’s bedtime-reading too, this would be it imho. It can only improve most budding musicians from knowing nothing right through to folks even at the level of gigging and getting recognition. There’s a simple sum given too, to help figure out which exact part of your frequency range, your listening or recording room is over-boosting for example. Yet, mostly, it is a nice descriptive text, and has a sprinkling of links to web locations etc.My version is the kindle (app on ios) one. This is mega-convenient for those hypertext links of course, plus i noticed the kindle book can come up on my iphone too, not just my ipad, and is re-formatted so it reads in iphone SE-sized chunks too.Can’t recommend it highly enough, for those who need to know a bit of everything, especially if you do some or a lot of your own recording and mixing/mastering. Even if you don’t, this helps understand why the sound engineer is tearing his hair out at your section of a song!I don’t have any of the software the guy uses to demo things, it is irrelevant because he’s written the book well and the general case is what overwhelmingly emerges. A good even excellent guide to modern audio capture and manipulation.

Fantastic book for both the beginner and anyone whose been mastering for a while. The proof's in the pudding and my masters are now sounding better than I ever expected. Very easy to read yet packed full of information. This book takes you through the whole process from start to finish, even covering things like how to acoustically treat your home studio. Excellent book, well written and easy to follow despite the perceived difficulty of the subject. I have already tried out a few of the author's ideas and cannot wait to try more.

Really pleased with this purchase. Struggled with the mastering side of it but this book's changed that. Loads more confident and getting brilliant results now. Book arrived quickly with no issues. Really easy to read and understand. I wish it came with a DVD as opposed to links to videos on the authors website but it's no bother typing the urls in. It can be read without watching videos anyway as they're only demo'ing what the book instructs. I would recommend this book to anyone who is doing their own mastering. A must read.

I have read 3 books on mastering and this by far the most practical for the home studio. If you are looking to master your own music "in the box" then look no further!

Absolutely brilliant book. The techniques in this book are priceless. I like the way the book is laid out and written, really easy to read and understand. Anyone who just wants to know pure technique on how to get their masters sounding professional should read this book.

His writing style is incredibly clear and such a good teacher. The book is wonderful ...but I loved that there were YouTube videos to show what he was talking about. And the secret tips section has some truely fantastic ways to tweak audio .I actually understand compression now and realize I've been clouding my mixes. This book is very excellent and I'm planning to read again and again. I actually regret buying the Kindle because I've had to copy down his settings and tips so I can have them beside me in the daw....might buy the print version. I also like that he doesnt use fancy plugins....all cheap native things in your recording software

Le concept global est très bien. On comprend bien les principes, et on peut les appliquer à son propre matériel . Parfois pas super clair sur les petits détails mais on comprend l'essentiel. A notez : le livre est écrit en langue anglaise très americanisée !
