This thermometer works well. I got this because my digital instant read thermometer's battery died and I don't want to replace batteries and I prefer analog devices when possible. This does not read as instant as my digital thermometer. I also realized that this needs to be fully inserted into the meat when being used or the reading wont be accurate. So for a 2 inch steak, you have to insert it into the side of the steak and ensure it is inserted all the way. That will give you a quick and accurate reading. But if you insert it into the top of the steak, there is not enough meet to surround the temperature probe to get a good reading. So one star off for the because my digital thermometer was able to take readings from the top of the steak. Anyway I am happy with this thermometer, it seems durable enough to last a long time and I am happy it will always work when I need it and I wont be without a thermometer because of dead batteries.

Perfect tool to meter your meat temperature while cooking.Very easy to calibrate in cold water.No battery to change, nice holder to protect it and it even has a clip so it will not fall from you pocket if you carry it.Meter is a bit small for my old eyes but it does the job.Highly recommend this product. Me ha facilitad el horneado, sobre todo de aves que si no quedan bien cocidas saben terribles, Se acabo estar pellizcando con el tenedor la pechuga del pollo del pavo, este termómetro es infalible. También me funciona para medir la temperatura para cortar la leche para hacer jocoque (o yogurth griego) en casa.

Lo compré para poder hacer un brisket en cocimiento lento, pero ahora lo usamos para checar la temperatura de otros cortes como lomo, pork shoulder, picaña, pescado. Es muy fácil de usar.Calibrarlo es la parte que toma más tiempo pero no es difícil. Solo necesitas hielo picado y agua en un vaso para meter el termómetro.Como no usa baterías me parece mejor opción, más durable que los digitales.

Update: Thermometer spring broke after 4 months of light use. Disappointed===========First, I doubt that this product is commercial grade as (1) there is a delay for the temperature reading to settle and (2) the face is smaller making the temperature somewhat difficult to read.However, I have to admit that the price is right and it does what I need it to do. A reasonable buy.
