Fabulous pictures and a great book on negotiation for little ones!

This is our first non-Biblical Brian Wildsmith book, and my kids (3 & 4) ask for seconds when I read it. The 7 & 8 year olds like it also. :-) He has a unique and wonderful style as an illustrator, and the story is fun and has lessons of kindness and friendship.

Beautiful illustrations and a story of helping others even with a history of conflict.

My 8yo and I are working through the curriculum "Teaching Conflict Resolution Through Children's Literature" by Kreidler. This is one of the suggested books. It shows a clear conflict and a satisfying resolution. The illustrations are pretty though a bit busy at times.

I must have read this book to my daughter 75 times from the time she was 2 to the age of 5. She loved the colors and unusual illustrations. Now, for her 26th birthday, I've given her a copy of her own to keep for the future. A timeless theme of compassion and understanding emerging from anger and pettiness.... and beautiful illustrations.

Great book. cute story. I like how there are so many different characters that talk in it so I can give a wide variety of freakishly odd voices...my son loves it and between that and so much to look at in the pictures, it grabs his interest. The pages are very busy but i enjoy it and my son seems to study the pages.

The illustrations are electric -- colorful and imaginative. The story has a great message...that you never know who might came through for you and how compromise can make a win win out of a situation that wasn't working. Truly a timeless book!

Very cute book. My 3 year old loved it.

This is perfect for my 5yr old as well as my Year 1 class ... great moral and stunning artwork. Brian Wildsmith has been a favourite of mine since I was a child.One tiny criticism of this version is the odd US spelling - but then, that's been a good talking point!
