Another great product from Ubiquiti
I stumbled across this in wall access point on Amazon. I'm not sure why I didn't previously know about it as I install access points as part of my business.I imediately brought it as it solved an issue i had in a room on the ground floor of my house. I wanted to improve the Wi-Fi but didn't have access to the ceiling, what I did have was an Ethernet port behind the TV.I installed this access point and straight away I had fantastic Wi-Fi and as the plug had two ports on the underside I could still have my Smart TV wired in.The access point itself needs POE either through an injector or a POE switch but this wasn't a problem for me as I already had a POE switch. Some say it doesn't fit a UK back box. It does. It's just longer than the box but it's not a problem. The access point can be easily configure on the mobile app and settings changed so it matches your SSID.Since getting one at home I have been recommending to my customers and I expect to buy again.

Excellent access point - but needs punchdown connector
Quality of wifi, manageability, and sheer utility of this device is superb. Its only flaw is that although they included a faceplate which fits UK cutouts, it requires an RJ45 plug at the back and that is extremely hard to fit if your backbox is cut into a masonry wall as many are in the UK. You may find a loose connection because you have had to squeeze hard on the plug. It also creates more work when retrofitting in place of an ethernet socket, because we have to terminate the cable into a plug. It would have been better if they had provided punchdown connectors so we could terminate the cable directly, saving both space and time.

Excellent, straightforward to install although doesn't come with PoE plug!
I recently ordered one of these devices for use at home:- Neat design, doesn't quite match other UK wall devices (ie it's a different shape to a typical wall socket) but this is only a minor thing- single LED indicator on the front which indicates status (same as other Unifi devices)- ethernet in MUST be from the back of the device; there are 2x ports on the bottom of the device but these cannot be used as an input- I didn't appreciate this didn't come with a PoE plug - so you either need to buy one or use a switch that provides PoE.I already have an existing Unifi Access Point (AP) at home. Initially I used this via my standard Netgear non-PoE switch:- software detected the new AP immediately, I then acquired and it automatically picked up the same SSID as my other AP and voila, it was working! (Yes, as easy as that!)- when using the Unifi software, you can get a nice view of the status of the various Unifi devices.I then changed the network switch to a Unifi PoE 16 port switch:- this removed the need for a PoE plug- the software then picked up the switch so I now have detailed stats of the network status and traffic going through it- moving from room to room in the house (ie transition from one AP to the other) was seamless - I haven't tested thoroughly but for the purposes of websurfing it was fine. For reference I'm using a BT Homehub 6.Overall I was really pleased with the result, this was really easy to install. The only outstanding item from my side is to mount this on a wall (which will mean chisling out a part of the wall to make it fit properly). And the next step is to build out the Unifi footprint by adding the security gateway.Note there are also additional features I haven't explored yet (e.g. testing signal strength, checking for wireless conflicts (this device can run tests like that).Overall highly recommended.

Reliable and Quality Feel
The Ubiquiti UAP-AC-In Wall Access Point is easy to install to an existing Ethernet point in a standard box (or run a new cable). It has proved very reliable (domestic, large building set-up). Moved to this model for wireless AP's as it provided gigabit connection to the (Netgear) poe switch. Have now bought three. Can be mounted vetically or horizontally. Slightly more expensive than others but excellent build quality. Needed to download (free) software for best functionality. To fully utilise this device it would be necessary to move to the Ubiquiti eco-system (e.g. Ubiquiti switch, router etc.) but using without that gives good functionality and meets my requirements. Impressed enough to consider making the move to their eco system.

Easy to install, but don't believe the hype
Very easy to get up and running, but nowhere near claimed speeds. I'm actually getting less on this than I do standing next to my lower rated router on 5G. I have a 450mb connection, and generally pull 300mb/s on my 5G signal from my router. Using this, even when placed two inches from the box, I only pull 180-190mb/sI think there's a lot of hype around these products, and people don't like to admit that they aren't getting the claimed rates.
