It's hard to find good toolboxes these days when everything is built from cheap plastic with garbage hinges and it only lasts a year or two with serious jobsite use. I bought five of these for my landscape construction business, last summer and they've held up perfectly over the past 9 months. They mostly sit in the truck and do nothing, so they're not getting tossed around a lot. But they're built well, are heavy duty and can haul heavy stuff (hammers, chisels, nails etc) easy without buckling like my old Lowes plastic POS toolboxes.

Specifically searched out a toolbox brand with USA heritage and landed on Homak. Toolbox product page doesn't seem to state origin of manufacture, but I saw in older comments that Homak makes in America. That, and the metal handle made this seem a good bet. Upon receiving though, I find a "Made in China" sticker on the inside. Doesn't mean it's poor quality—in fact it seems very sturdy, definitely heavy—but still, a bummer as I wanted to support American Manufacturing. Toolbox seems quality regardless. Just FYI.

If you ever want a toolbox where there is no plastic, not even the tote tray under the lid, then this is the box for you. On my family's farm we had many similar tool boxes. We used them daily, under lots of demanding conditions. Lately I wanted a toolbox large enough to contain my large wrenches, longer tools, and I wanted one that would last. All I could find were lots of plastic toolboxes. Any metal ones were on rollers or not meant to be carried. Even then, they had those darn plastic tote trays. Not the Homak. Made in the USA! Made of steel. Piano hinge holding the lid to the box. The snap closures are the safety type. Catching one on something does not dump your tools on the ground.The paint seems well done.Overall, I have a toolbox that I'm sure will outlast me.

Good quality nice and sturdy

Perfect box for all my wrenches, sockets and misc hand tools. The box and the tray are made of very sturdy metal. Hard to find a good quality metal box these days, but this is a good one! Highly recommended!!!

Good, classic steel tool box. This item is much better than the plastic one it replaced, and can recommend it for anyone who needs a basic hand carry tool box around the house. The quality is good, but IMHO more for hobby use than industrial.

I wanted a toolbox for around my house to hold your average tools (hammers, screwdriver, pry bar, tape measure, etc) and to keep them all in one place. This is exactly what I was looking for, an inexpensive toolbox that can accommodate all of your everyday tools for around the house jobs. I knew for the price I wasn't getting anything fancy or well made but I can tell this box is not very well made. It is perfect for a household toolbox but for anything more, I would spend a bit more money. The toolbox includes a removable drawer to hold your smaller tools which is nice, as well as two clasps that hold the lid closed, each with separate loopholes for a lock to slip through. All in all, if all you are looking for is a simple place to store your tools and possibly to lock them up, this is perfect. If you are looking for a superior construction than pass on this or you will be disappointed.
