Rumparooz Kanga Care Reusable Cloth Diaper Cover Aplix

I bought a few of these for my daughter who cloth diapers my granddaughter. They are really great covers. They are leak-proof, she's never had a diaper leak, neither urine or feces, and she is breast fed which is a softer, liquid type bowel movement, and it holds it all inside, something my other daughter always had a problem with she used disposable diapers.How to use them:She uses them with either pre-fold, flat, or fitted cloth diapers. For pre-folds: She purchased a few dozen organic newborn size at Green Mountain Diapers and uses snappi diaper fasteners instead of pins. We lay the pre-fold down, with baby's waist at the center top, then take each side where her legs, feet were are and roll it in "jelly roll style", to where it is a triangle'ish shape, then pulls the bottom up between her legs. Then take each side of the top and pull in on top of the part that was pulled up and fasten the little hooks on the snappi at the bottom onto the crotch part, then stretch each of the snappi's arms to where the teeth grap the cloth on each side. It holds the diaper on perfectly without having to use pins.Then, we take the rumparooz and adjust the snaps to fit. It has multiple ways it can be snapped, so that it will fit a newborn through the first 3-6 months, depending on size of your baby. For a newborn, you snap down the "rise", which is the bottom row of snaps in the middle, for the first several weeks we needed it to be snapped to the bottom row, then as she grew longer, we snapped to the top row, now that she is 3 months old, we don't need to snap down the rise because it fits fine without shortening the rise. The sides come in and snap on whichever snaps fit your baby's size, at first we used the very center snaps, at 3 months she just got big enough we've moved out one snap on each side. After getting it one, we check around the legs to be sure all of the cloth diaper is poked inside the cover, if not the urine will wick out of the diaper and you will have a leak, otherwise if the cover goes around all of it, you never have a leak. We check the top back of the diaper/cover also to be sure all of the cloth is covered in the back. You can usually use the cover through multiple wet diaper changes. The only time you have to change covers is if it gets left on too long and urine kind of wets the elastic around the leg gathers, since it has double "gussets" which is two separate layers of material that are gathered along the legs, to be sure nothing can leak. The other reason to change the cover is if baby has a liquid bowel movement and it may get on the cover if it comes out of the pre-fold, but the jelly roll will usually prevent that.Alternate way to use a pre-fold, just fold it in thirds and lay inside the cover, works great for urine, but not so much for poo. A fitted cloth diaper can be closed and wrapped in this cover and makes a great leak-proof combo. There are many websites on cloth diapers out there Green Mountain Diaper does a good job explaining different diapers and how to use them. Youtube has videos on folding "flats", cloth diapers that are not pre-folded, basically a really large square of cotton material that is folded down and used to soak urine just like pre-folds do.When washing the Rumparooz, it's better if you don't dry in dryer, they tend to look new longer if you don't dry in dryer. Super hot washes also will make them look worn faster than a shorter hot wash cycle. When we take the diapers off of the baby, since she is exclusively breastfed, we take the diapers off her and put straight in a diaper pail liner, then washed every other day, no rinsing out in the toilet, especially when she was a newborn. Now that she is 3 months old, we're starting to need to spray off the diapers a little more. We use only Charlie's soap powder when we wash diapers, but we only use cotton cloth diapers. Some who use microfiber diapers, I've heard have to was differently.We use cloth wipes and diaper wipe juice for spraying her off, seems to work best and doesn't irritate her skin, she's never had a rash that lasted, did have a pinkish rash after using disposable wipes and cried a lot, but doesn't seem to mind Thristies Booty Luster at all. We take cloth baby wash cloths or the many different cloth wipes, or old flannel pajamas made into wipes, and then wash them with the diapers.Hope all of this helps, but I know we were in the dark when we first started.

I am glad I discovered Rumparooz covers. I have a couple and they are my favorites of my mix. They last the longest before becoming overly soiled.I have a snap cover and hook and loop. I prefer the hook and loop as it is easier to attach and adjust with kicking legs.I like that the cover trim is the same color. It also does not wick moisture like other covers. The Rumparooz cover also features more elastic at the lug gussets, back and front. It keeps even the worst contained. The cover is easy to wipe clean, unless really soiled and things get well into the folds of material at the elastic points.At this point, a few weeks in, I predict that the newborn size will fit my baby well for a few months. The size adjustment snaps also gave her much less crotch sag in the early days compared to other designs. I used the Rumparooz exclusively for the first couple weeks as they fit the best for my newborn. I plan on turning to Rumparooz again when my baby outgrows her current covers.

This is my favorite diaper cover. I have Bumgenius (which I just use as covers), Thirsties, Grow Via, and a few others. I'm going to be buying more Rumparooz for sure. They are high quality materials, and they have excellent elastic in all the right places. I particularly like the double gusset on the legs. The rise has plenty of room to adjust and the snaps stay snapped. I get annoyed with my Thirsties covers with the rise snaps that come undone multiple times while I am trying to put the diaper on. The fleece on the Bumgenius holds stains. The Grow Via have little elastic and don't contain poo. My Rumparooz have none of these issues. The colors on this particular style are very saturated and catch your eye. Cloth diapering was never so easy or stylish. Even my MIL doesn't mind using these.

I have twin girls who were born premature. When I brought them home, they were 4.5 and 5.5 pounds, and it was difficult to find cloth diaper covers small enough to fit them. I used the bummis organic cotton prefolds in the premie size, which fit well, and I bought five different diaper covers to try.1. This diaper cover was a little too big. The fact that it has snaps to let you adjust the size makes it bulky on a small baby. I will be able to use it longer than the type that doesn't adjust, but for now it is not ideal and does not fit under preemie clothes. Once my baby got to be six pounds, it fit pretty well. It seems well made and I haven't had any leakage issues.2. The rumparoooz cloth diaper cover with Bermuda snaps in size newborn is very similar to the first one, except it closes with snaps. Like the first one, it is too big for a five pound baby and bulky under clothes due to the snaps allowing you to adjust the size. It is very well made, and I would give it four stars, except that when the cloth diapers get really wet, the cover leaks around the tag on the back. I give it 3 stars.3. The Real Nappies Snug Wrap in size newborn was my favorite cover out of the five. It fit well on my five pound baby. It has a simple design that velcros in the front. There are no snaps to adjust the size, so it is considerably slimmer than the rumparoooz covers. The leg openings are snug enough to prevent leaks, but have a soft enough to not cause discomfort. I give it 5 stars.4. The Pro Wrap diaper cover is another very basic cover that velcros in the front and does not adjust to different sizes. Since it is cheaper than the rest, I was hoping to love it. However, it is too big on my babies and the leg holes cannot be adjusted nearly small enough. Even with the Velcro at its tightest setting, there are huge gaps around the legs. Also, the Velcro is oddly bulky and does not lie flat. I give it 2.5 stars.5. The Bummis Original Wrap in newborn size was quite a bit smaller than the other covers. It says it fits babies 4-8 pounds and it was the only cover that actually fit my preemies perfectly. It is very simple and slim, and I love it. There is a slight issue, however, with the construction. The material around the legs and waist band seems to get damp when the diapers are very wet, causing as like leakage issue. I would still give it 4 stars and recommend it for anyone with a baby under six pounds who wants to do cloth diapers.

I really wanted to like these covers but there is a major design flaw with this brand. Like other reviewers, I have had several incidents with leaks through the rubber labels on the back. A quick search around the Internet shows that many others have had the same problem for years, and the company's response was to increase the absorbency of the inserts. However, I've only had leaks with this brand and not others (for example the much cheaper and very reliable KaWaii Baby brand), and the inserts just need to be damp, not even saturated, for moisture to start wicking through the cotton stictches sewned onto the rubber label. This is very frustrating and inconvenient. You would have thought the manufacturer can just easily change the placement of the label after years of customer complaints!I wanted to like these diaper covers because of the trim fit on small babies. Double leg gussets are always useful to have, though the leg fit on my baby isn't quite right. Aplix closure is convenient and easy to use; however the flaps must be carefully snapped onto the laundry tabs otherwise they will destroy other items in the wash. I also find that the Aplix edges are a bit sharp and sometimes rub against baby's belly, especially if baby likes to kick or do froggy legs. Considering these issues on top of the leaks caused by the label placement, I cannot recommend this brand despite loving the patterns and wanting to make these work.

Very good, very happy. I wish it was more breathable and drying faster. I have both newborn and 1 size. Newborn fine until 4-5months of an average baby but an average baby cannot wear 1-size for more than 9months if using foldable diapers so will have to find an alternative.
