The Classic Treasury Of Aesop's Fables

Great collection of stories. Dover publishing pages don’t hold with high use.
Love the collection of stories, as well as the illustrations, however this is our second copy that we have had to tape together. While the paper itself is a nice glossy feel, with lovely colours, the area where the paper attaches to the binding, feels more like tear away notepad glue. Might try to find a hardcover for our third purchase of this book.

Now what is advertised
On the basis of the 'look inside' facility I bought this book because it contained around 200 of the classic short fables. What turned up is an illustrated book containing just 12 - 1 per page with a picture. Having just re read some reviews I see that others have been similarly duped. I can't imagine who would be the audience for this totally pointless publication. Refund required.

Aesop's Fables
I wanted this book for my 4 year old grandson because his mother and I had enjoyed the fables when chldren. This edition was comprehensive and beautifully illustrated. However, I should have preferred UK rather than US English spelling -- probably unreasonable given that this was a reprint of a Dover Publications original. The lengths of individual fables facilitate demands for "another story, please" without postponing bedtime too much.

Interesting read
I read one story every night to my son and I think he likes it. At least I like reading it, unlike many stories that could be too infantile at times. The morale at the end is also an interesting reminder of things I was taught when I was younger. I hope that when my 1 year old grows older we will be able to discuss the stories and the morale and that it becomes one of his favourite books. The illustrations are very nice as well. I just wish there were more of them.

Good enough but not what I expected
When I was little I had a book of Aesop's Fables and I loved it so I wanted to get one for my daughter to enjoy also. I wanted as many fables as possible and thought that this book was just the thing but to fit this many stories in, they've condensed them to the point that some of them miss the point of the fable! They still each have the moral at the end but it seems like the quality of the storytelling has been somewhat lost in this edition.
