Mario Barth will be your guide inside The Horitoshi family, masters of the ancient art of tebori, a traditional Japanese technique of tattoo that dates back for centuries. Due to its underworld ties, tebori tattoo has been outlawed by the Japanese government. For the first time ever, viewers will be able to see the small and secret society of the Horitoshi family, as well as their rich culture, exotic land, the history and mythology of Japanese tattooing. While in Tokyo, Barth participates in underground festivals, rituals and gets tattooed on camera. Barth has gained much respect from the Horitoshi family throughout his career and is the only Westerner welcome to immerse into this highly guarded world - which until now, the average person would have zero access to. It is only through Barth’s accomplishments and stellar reputation that the viewer is given the key to this veiled community. Winner of: * Winner Best Documentary Director from the Los Angeles Film Festival. * Winner Best Documentary New York Independent Film Festival. * Winner Best Documentary Moving Pictures Festival. * Winner Best Documentary Black Earth Film Festival. * Winner 2008 Accolades Award.

watched once
It is a nice video but nothing real special about the movie. I watched it once and now it sits on the self. It starts out with Mario telling you how great he is and then gets into the japanese element

I love the documentary but i feel it’s only because my artist is part of the horitoshi family and it is cool seeing him in it as well as the master. However without that it is more about Mario Barth than the horotoshi family and i wish it was about 90% them and 10% him. That being said still a really cool documentary.
