grew a great scoby from it

I’ve been brewing kombucha for years, recently restarted with this purchase… unfortunately following these directions and long transit time resulted in mold. Small scoby and very little starter fluid. I’ll just get a scoby from a friend who built his brew from my previous batch then try again with company.

Amazing works very well

The scoby went bad after a few days and started growing a mouldy new scoby. I had to throw the whole product. I've been brewing kombucha for over 5 years, and thanks to careful sanitization, I've never experienced any issue like that. I can only assume the product was tainted or suffered during shipment.

Wanted to wait until I successfully brewed first and second fermentation before reviewing. It took a while to arrive but when it did it was packaged securely. I used it to brew 1 gallon of kombucha and it worked. It took around 9-10 days to get to the taste I wanted for first fermentation. I think maybe adding a bit less starter tea would have been quicker and would recommend this to anyone using this starter tea and SCOBY/pellicle. It was my first time brewing kombucha and I am happy with it. Just wish they also gave measurements in metric; I had to keep converting online. That would have been helpful. But I am giving it 5 stars as it was affordable (not much options in the UAE and all sellers here with companies are charging 150AED+) and most importantly it worked.

I am brewing my tea for the first batch so I will see whether it works but I have to say that I am dissapointed of how it looked. It was only 135g of scoby and some liquid, not 227g as advertised. Yes, there was a box and a thin slice of paper came with it but it was no where near 227g.I failed once in making kombucha so I wanted to make sure that I would receive a good amount of scoby but it was dissapointing when it arrived.My item was made in the UAE, I thought it would arrive from the US. I did worry about whether the scoby would die during the transport but I wonder if I chose the US one whether I would have received the one in the picture.

The container had a small hole and the starter liquid was almost finished by the time the tem ot delivered. All the package was wet due to this and smelly. Luckily the soby was in good enough condition.However I do not recommend this purchase.
