What size mounting spindle does this need?

Not sure of the exact size, but it will only fit the Proxxon mini-lathe.

What is the mechanism for tightening on the workpiece. Is it a t type driver or two pins that must be manipulated?

Not a good mechanism. You need to tighten each hold individually, so it is not precise. I have since obtained a new lathe and a better Chuck, that will self center.
