only good for sleep and step tracking
I had this item for two days and unfortunately I am gonna have to return it.... this is what I've learn about it pros and cons:-really nice design in terms of looks and comfort.-tracks sleep accurately, a lot better than trying to do so with a smart phone for example.-took me a while to set it all up, but it links with my fitness pal, smart scale (I am using Renpho) and apple health app.-already popped out once as I was taking out the trash :D-sticks to your hand and leaves a circle mark.-the main reason why this device is not good for me is that it only basically tracks the steps... Today I have completed a HIIT workout that lasted 45 minutes and according to my gym burns approximately 350 calories... I was so excited to look at my shine expecting to see what it tracked and guess what it said?? Light activity - distance 0.3km - 51cal burned!! 10 walk to the gym has apparently burned more calories that a 45 min high intensity workout! haha! I know that you can put in a different type of activity you were doing and adjust it later which I was trying to do, but the activities you get does not include any of the gym workouts....All in all I would recommend it to people who would like to track their sleep and steps (especially good if your job is not sedentary), but if you go to the gym to exercise, or even the opposite - if you are a house wife/husband who does a lot of house work and would like to track how active you've been... don't bother and get something that monitors your heart rate as well, shine results won't be consistent simply because it does not have that function.

Almost Perfect!!
Just got my Shine 2 a few days ago and all good so far. It's tracking activity and sleep fine (I'm apparently not getting enough by the way).I have read reviews that say the device pops out of the band (mine came with circular security clamp), the vibrate feature is undetectable and the LED's are impossible to read in direct sunlight. This is not my experience!! Apart from very bright sunlight (where you wouldn't be able to read your phone) the display can be seen and even so all you have to do is hood the display with your hand and you'll be able to read it fine.I love the call and message notification feature (very useful when phone is on silent) and the 'get up off you ass and move' feature too. I also like it's ability to track "special activies" and can be used to track swimming and basic cycling cadence too. There is one annoying behavior though. The Shine seems to loose it's brain occasionally when disconnected from the phone. I understand that notification, alarm, etc. features won't work but surely it should be able to show accurate progress & time independently? Now it's all fine when you sync (normal service resumed) and no data is lost but it's just a bit of a pain having to keep re-syncing. It should do that automatically when in range of the phone.Other than that niggle I'm very happy with this device. If you're looking for a good value, well built, light & discreet tracker with some 2-way ability with your phone, then I would highly recommend!

Clever activity and sleep tracker that works well on Android
Quality bit of kit, the app seems to work well. Best thing is that this tracks sleep as well as actions. Price fluctuates so look about, I have seen these on special offer at US$19 each in the USA (which excludes VAT, shipping and VAT on shipping of course). Had some issues (like other people) with the silly wrist band and the device coming loose in the first few days, but it seems to have settled down to staying in the holder.Nice battery life of (6 months?) and the clock display with coloured LEDs is interesting and would be useful in the dark. There are quite a few colour options if you look around as well.If you don't move about a lot during the day, this thing vibrates like a mobile phone to chivvy you into action. Simple to use, easy to connect and the Android app which once set up up will interrogate the device when you open it.

Good bit of kit but oh that strap and poor battery life
I think this is a great bit of kit, well designed and thought out. It does what it says on the tin - keeps track of your steps and activities. It tracks your sleep very well too. I like the minimalist display. I don't need a full readout all thru the day. Just a sync in the morning and then last thing. I like the waterproof element. But it does have two flaws. The big one is the naff strap. Why go to the extreme bother of making a chic design and then stick it in a piece of plastic, front mounted, so any flexing of the wrist will cause it to pop out? Surely, rear mounting it would have been the rather obvious answer!??? The second flaw is the battery life. It did not come with a battery, which is a shame but I bought some expensive Duracell ones and it lasted less than a month. I didn't do any alerts or alarms. I turned off the buzz if you get a txt etc just the twice sync a day and nout else. I'm prepared to give it another go and will report back but six months it does not do! I've raised a support enquiry and will report back on what they say and how good this service is.

Restricted tracking on Windows app (PC or phone)
I works fine and the monitor is secure in the strap. However, I have returned this product, because when I bought it, it was stated that Misfit products work with Windows Phone, but in reality the product only tracks sleep and walking on Windows app (phone or PC). I consulted Misfit customer support, but improvements on the Windows app weren't in their plans. So I saw no point in having a product that can do so much, but I can not actually use it (I've paid for those functions!). It was either change the fitness monitor, or my phone and computer, so I returned the Misfit Shine 2 and got Fitbit instead (even better tracking, just not as water-resistant). I had mainly App problems, so if you're not a Windows-person, it should work just fine for you.
