Perfect for me!
Love my moleskin sketch book! The paper is high quality and works well with many different medias. I tend to use watercolour paint, ink, pencil and marker pens. The paper hardly crumbles when I use my watercolours but watch that masking fluid! It can sometimes tear. Full 5 stars from me :)

Small pad for small/thumbnail art
The Moleskine classic notebook is an ideal travel sketchbook for artists on small trips and don't want to carry massive pads or books with them. In terms of size the pad in height is about 2/3rds the length of a pencil. When doing a drawing across two pages the book sits flat and is roughly A5 in size. The paper is good quality and you can produce a variety of different marks for shading and lines. The paper is textured so pencil colours may not cover all white of the paper. Definitely a useful pad to have for quick doodles and sketches.

Pocket sketchbook
Having heard the many the rave reviews for Moleskine notebooks, I thought I would see what all the fuss was about. Initially I was shocked at the price ranges- fairly expensive for a notebook!? Yet, Amazon offers the best price, a BARGAIN compared with other stores/websites!The paper is sooo smooth! I have no qualms about using it with fineliner and brush pens, it's amazing.BUT, the paper has a sort of coating on that means it repels soluble media and if you go over it too many times it bobbles awfully! I've tried it with watercolours, inks, and even pencils don't have the same intensity, almost waxy :(Obviously I know this is a 'sketchbook' so I didn't expect it to be suitable for watercolours, but it would have been nice for multi-purpose use, especially pencils! Perhaps a sharper mechanical pencil would work better? However, it IS sleek, stylish and you do pay for the quality with details I love the little pocket in the back as well as the ribbon page marker.Nonetheless, it is a great little pocket 'sketchbook' that would be perfect for someone that works exclusively in pens and fineliner!

great quality paper, but okay overall
good quality paper and nice pocket feature, but you cant lay it flat, making it hard to utilise the full page for drawing, and pages are impossible to rip out neatly or without destroying the whole book. I'd say it's overrated and overpriced-it limits your freedom creatively. But, if you are looking for really good quality paper then here's your guy!

I adore moleskine books, I am never disappointed with the quality. this is reasonably thick paper. it withstands most media except excessive water-based paints/inks. beautifully smooth paper for sketching. this is truly pocket size. if you require something for more substantial sketches however, I would recommend a4 size.the one thing I can say is when erasing pencil lines the slightly off-white colour of the paper fades, which can be a pain.
