Great book
I mean, medsurg isn't easy, that is just a lie. :) HOWEVER, this is an easy supplement that is concise and easy to read. It's great for the beginning of a topic, or a quick review before a test. Or, there have been topics that I don't quite understand and this is the book I reach for. It's not for your NCLEX level of studying, it's for a simple and direct approach. It has great content, don't get me wrong. When I say simple, I mean a clear explanation regardless of how intricate a topic is. I love these books. I have several for all the classes I've taken.

Helpful in understanding material
Wish I would have had this at the beginning of med surg 1. It explains things in a way that helps things make sense. I especially like the little drawings and quotes to help you remember things. It is written in a way that isn't boring like many other text books so that is a huge plus.

Sums it all up
I enjoyed this book for MED-Surg, it gave a good recap on the conditions we were covering in class.

Too Simplified
I am very disappointed in this book. It simplifies things way too much. I was looking for a reference book to read to help brush up on my knowledge and fill in some blanks that would take a slightly lighter approach than a med-surg textbook. This is not it. One example ... I am an RN and have been for about a year and a half. The unit I work on receives the majority of the hospital's stroke admissions. This books takes the numerous types of strokes, signs and symptoms, tests and procedures, causes, interventions, etc. and cuts it down to 4 pages. It gives the basics of the basics. It gave me nothing to help with my practice.I do not think this is even a good supplement for NCLEX studying because things are too simplified. A large majority of testable material isn't even mentioned.I understand the title of the book insinuates the simplicity of the material, but I thought with it pushing close to 1,000 pages I would get a lot more from it than I actually did. I think the book is good for layman reading, but of little to no use to a practicing nurse. Keep on searching or bust out your original 2 volume Medical Surgical Nursing textbook like I plan on doing.
