Another Rick Steve's Quality Product
As always from Rick Steve's guides: well-written, informative, succinct with many useful links. Easy to read while on the plane or train. I particularly enjoyed the free App "Rick Steve's Audio Europe". I downloaded the discussions about Istanbul (City Guide, Cheap Eats et al) onto my phone and listened before leaving home. Invaluable information, such as the best time to visit the Blue Mosque (apparently, not in the morning when cruise liners disgorge thousands of passengers to rush there). I first discovered Rick Steve's Guides a few years ago when travelling to Spain. In my view, his guides are essential and on-the-go-friendly, supplementing the bulky Fodor and Rough Guide travel books which I leave at home when I head for the airport.

Never disappointed with Rick Steves
Rick Steves' travel books have always been our favorite.We have used so many of his suggestions with great success.Every restaurant, every hotel and every suggested place to visithas been spot on. I do try other travel books, but always findthe Rick Steves's books to be the most useful.

No better way to prepare for your trip than reading this book
We learned so many important things from this book it's hard to know where to start. Not that we were ever at risk of miss seeing the Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque without this book, but we probably would have not bought a Museum Pass; or taken the Public Ferry Bosporus to the Blace Sea and a taxi back to save time; or had in one place what's open on what day of the week.Also, I got it on Kindle, which made it easier to reference anything using the links and the search function.To travel smart, save money and time in Istanbul, this is a must-have.

Once things calm down in Istanbul, hope to try it out
Very in depth review of Istanbul - gives very good detail on local customs, what to do in a short period of time, practical shopping tips. Unfortunately with the recent unrest, had to cancel our vacation. Hopefully can assess its accuracy one of these days

Another Rick Steves masterpiece
Love his radio show, TV, and Youtube videos. This book will get you around Istanbul like a native guide. Merhaba!

Must have before travel
great guide but unfortunately with all my mark ups on the book we never used it only because of the security issue in istanbul at the time of travel. This is a really great useful book!

Very informative, this guide book provides a lot of details useful for logistics, and makes traveling to Istanbul seem like a great excursion, a good way to learn about history and that portion of the modern world.
