Magicjack Plus! 12 Months Free Unlimited Local & Long Distance

I bought Magic Jack on a whim, when I found a box of my old landline phones in the back of my closet, and decided to try to hook them up. It turned out great!My house was completely wired for telephone service when it was built, and there are lots of phone outlets throughout the house, but I turned off my land line about four or five years ago. I plugged the Magic Jack into the phone outlet near my router (instead of into a single phone, as the instructions indicate). Now all the jacks in my house work, and I have phones hooked up all over -- all with a single Magic Jack!Also, to push Magic Jack to its limits, I wanted to have a phone near my computer. But naturally, that wall outlet was being taken up by the Magic Jack line that was connected to my router. So, on a hunch, I invested a few dollars in a splitter. (Look up "phone splitter" on Amazon for some examples.) Then I connected the Magic Jack to one of the splitter outlets, a telephone to the second splitter outlet, then plugged the splitter into the wall. Amazingly, the Magic Jack continued to work, and I now have a working phone right next to my router, as well as working phones throughout the rest of my three-story house. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that the splitter idea worked. I'm no engineer, and I'm not sure how the single wall outlet near my router can shoot the Magic Jack signal into the wall and throughout my house, then send it back out to a phone next to my router. But, somehow, it does.Magic Jack doesn't seem to advertise this multi-phone feature for its product. It appears from online discussions that some people have trouble setting it up, due to house wiring or other issues, so Magic Jack probably doesn't want to oversell its product. But I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, because it worked great for me. Your results may vary. But it shouldn't be any problem to at least hook up one phone, and combined with the phone number and voicemail applications, this was money well spent.

TOTALLY FALSE ADVERTISEMENT: It states------ "Keep Your Current Number Port your existing phone number and avoid the hassle of notifying all of your contacts" Set up fairly easy. Tried to Port existing phone number, and said I could not at this time and to try later. Contacted per text to Magicjack (Should note that had contacted prior to instillation with question and took 20 min to get through) and did get quick response this time and they said to finish registration, get the MAGIC JACK PHONE NUMBER OFFERED, did this and still would not allow me to port my old phone number. No other reason given. Recontacted Magicjack and their only answer was I could not port my phone number and to try later, and would not tell me how much later, and no other reason given. JUST WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO IT. By the way, Magicjack will definitely give you a weird phone number (do not use the 01 unless someone overseas is calling you, and besides continue reading)----you can call out----but try using that number from another phone and call yourself, and will not allow you to do this either. So do not that take this particular offer. There are other offers besides taking their phone number option. Hopefully that will work for you, and I hope you can port your phone number as so many others have. I PERSONALLY WILL PUT THIS IN THE TOP 5 MOST DISAPPOINTING PRODUCTS I HAVE PURCHASED IN ALL MY LIFE-----and I am 71. I have probably bought well over 100 products from Amazon, and this is the WORST review, by far, that I have given a product. I will continue to try and port my number, and if by chance it will allow me to, I promise to re-evaluate this product. ---- And probably a minor issue, but I am not sure why when I click on the product I bought, it will not now come up. Some other Magicjack product comes up. I am writing about the Magicjack Plus with 12 months Unlimited Local and Long DistanceI did a chat with Magicjack, on two occasions. Each time said could NOT port my home phone. Only reason given was MAYBE that number was already in use. That makes NO SENSE. If I call my home phone number from a cell I only reach my phone. When my son calls me long distance, he only reaches me. How could that number be in use already. VERY FRUSTRATING. Again, Magicjack advertises you can port your home phone number-------why do they not let know that this may not happen, give you a way to check it out if your home phone number can or cannot be ported. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU CHAT WITH MAGICJACK BEFORE YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT TO MAKE SURE YOUR NUMBER CAN BE PORTED .I will ask Amazon to take this product back. What a waste of my time. Setting up, trying to get Magicjack to port it, chatting and getting no reasonable response etc. I am sure some people had excellent service-------but not me. And as I said, the number they did give, I can call out but if I call that number the message I receive is that no phone call can be made with it.

So far, so good. No issues with this product. Install was quick and easy. Only had to call customer service after glitch with my internet. This sure beats a phone bill!!

I tried this once before where the cell signal was not strong and it did not work. I moved to an area where we have good high speed signal from a large company. This is awesome service for the price paid. The signal is clear and it performs as advertised.I called the local phone company to get a basic phone line and I think as I recall they wanted about $30 a month for no long distance or any frills.There are a few times when we hear a beep during the conversation. I do not know where it comes from so I cannot fully attribute this to Magic Jack. Great product and service for the price paid or just a great product and service period, regardless of the price.

YOU MUST HAVE A FAST INTERNET CONNECTION OR THE CALLS ARE CHOPPY OR WON'T CONNECT THROUGH!!! Sucks for living in the country using satellite internet!

Everyone knows Magicjack works. However, the one-year unlimited is false advertising. I set up my service only to find out the one-year free service ends today (the day I activated the magicjack!).

did worked for me while i wast traveling - comes with options for connection via computer or stand alone via router - i used it stand alone with combination of the cheap wired Sony brand phone - works like magic :))))Once in a few days it does requires reset - you simply disconnect it for a second from power and then connect it backGreat option for travelers - i used it for a local number in US while was student in Dominica - more useful then i could imagine before i purchased it - price included 2 years of subscriptionI used tall free number to activate it - online activation was pain - so recommend to buy it AND ACTIVATE BEFORE you leave the country
