Arrow A Breath Of Snow And Ashes: (Outlander 6)

This book kept me interested, in spite of it's enormous size (at approx 1500 pages) though I think it would really benefit from fewer tangents. Just when I feel myself enthralled in one story, I'm then hurtled into another, seemingly unrelated tale that will no doubt have relevance in a future novel, but that didn't add to the overall narrative of the one I was reading. I will say there is a great sense of character and of place.

It is far too long. Some really boring chapters and I end up wondering why they are there. First time ever I am tempted to give up on it. If I hadnt seen the series on TV I would have.

Disappointed with condition of the book as there was a crease line across the back cover, although it's supposed to be a new item.The other book - Drums of Autumn - was even worse! White marks on the cover where it looked like a label had been pulled off, as well as fingerprints all over the front cover and in general the book looked like a previously read & returned copy, not a new item.Haven't decided yet whether to keep the items or not.

My mother kept asking me when I was going to finish this book as I seemed to be reading it for months; it's certainly worth it for the weight! I have enjoyed all the Outlander series and this one is no exception. You have a real feel for the backwoods American life in those early days. This book often lacks pace because it is so long, but there are certainly many episodes of high drama and their ongoing results. Don't read this book if you haven't read the earlier ones as it will seem a bit dull. The skill of the author is in keeping plot themes bubbling to the surface in each book, which makes sense if you have followed them in sequence.

As I have not listened to it yet I can't comment but if it's anything like the series it's from I just know it will be good.
