The Collected Suicide Notes of Sam Pink Paperback – August 1, 2013

This book contains some of the best poetry by any author current or otherwise in any language ever. Sam Pink has written so many great poems i can't even believe it, all of which can be found here. So many of his poems are disturbing and or very strange. What Sam Pink is doing in his poems is not being done anywhere else. Sam Pink rules, that is just it. If you like poetry buy this book. If you read anything read this.

I am a big fan of Sam Pink. He is a really exciting writer/person. It was a hard cover"collection" the picture on the cover is from his blog and it isa snappy read...you will whip right through it.In his poetry there is something more brutal and hoplessthan his novels. Rontel and the no Hello's Diet.His novels are depressing but funnierI enjoyed these poems for the raw bloody feelif they were meat they world be rare and bloody.If they were a steak you ordered in a fancy steak housethe steak would come out bloody. There would be blood and salt on the plate after youwere done eating. Maybe you would dip your fork into itand trace a pattern and than lick the fork when you thought no one wouldnoticehooraynearly raw meat.

I like it.

His writing is bizarre yet comforting, uplifting, but in a macabre and uncomfortable way. It's something that on the surface may seem hard-to-follow/hard-to-swallow, as most lines have less of a conventional 'flow' and more of a scattered semi-stream of consciousness thing going on, but you'll find yourself nodding, laughing, going "hmmm", and maybe even crying or feeling sick. The dude's a modern magical wordsmith. He'll take you to weird places, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, with neither of you knowing it's happening.In terms of value, this is well-priced. This hardcover collection costs roughly the same as the individual paperback books, and the inclusion the limited-print, "Gerald McClellan", which I wasn't able to find for sale anywhere online, is an extra bonus.Buy this. Read it. Make your friends read it, if you have any friends. Hit yourself in the face with it.P.S. Sam Pink is also just a really nice guy (I've emailed him a few times), and the publisher, Lazy Fascist Press, gives most of its profits to the authors (as it should be). Support art! Sam Pink is a funny guy. I hope he doesn't kill himself.

Before this the only book of Sam Pink's poetry I had read was "No One Can Do Anything Worse to You Than You Can" (which is included in this collection). And I loved it. Didn't think I really liked poetry until reading that book. I am not finished with this one yet, but love the other work included in it so far. His novels are also great and definitely worth a look. Buy this now!

reading sam pink feels, to me, like how i imagine some people felt reading walt whitman when walt whitman was alive. a kind of rally for the things and people we forget about immediately upon noticing. there's something special in pink's writing, like finding the one place your mean old landlord is ticklish.
