Linux Bible

I use this book more than any other book at work. It has walked me through countless jams. If you're a software engineer, this book is a must have.

Esse livro é literalmente uma bíblia. Completo e eficiente. Tenho a 8a edição em Português e resolvi comprar a 10a edição em Inglês, para complementar os estudos. Essa edição está muito bem encadernada e com excelente acabamento. O livro chegou em excelentes condições e bem embalado. Estou completamente satisfeito.

The first thing to note is that the book is very user-centric, it mainly covers what you can do with Linux, with practical examples, but not how Linux works under the hood (so sometimes you are told to use commands without being told what they do) - which is fine but one should know that before buying.The book is good but I think it is perhaps too ambitious in the amount of subjects that it covers. Every chapter is about 20 pages long and in each one a specific subject is covered and there are exercises at the end. In the beginning, it starts with simple subjects such as basic command line usage and file system handling, and that's where the book is at its best since 20 pages are enough to cover such matters. In the middle 20 pages starts feeling short to discuss things like setting up a web server but its still mostly fine. By the end the author discusses Kubernetes and hypervisors in about 20 pages each, which leads to a lot of barely explained instructions, so I feel like now I need to get a new book to learn such subjects, as in this book they are barely touched upon and it's hard to understand everything. Overall I still learned a lot about Linux, just not everything on the table of contents, as I had hoped.
