Not suitable to face outdoors at night - obviously.
Bought as a quick & temporary CCTV camera to face outside to keep an eye on the driveway whiles at work which isn’t the intended purpose for this camera - so this written review is based on indoor use facing outside.A little heads up for anyone thinking this could be a good alternative to an outdoor camera - you’d be both right, and mostly wrong.Daytime: A surprisingly good quality camera which can read registration plates on the drive with ease - better than most low-mid range cameras it would seem. Fantastic when you bare in mind this camera is only supposed to show you a room and not an entire driveway - which is why it gets 5 stars.Nighttime: Unusable. This cameras ability to make a dim street look like daylight is amazing. Unfortunately - there’s no manual control of the infrared, which automatically clicks in late at night till the early hours which leads to infrared light bouncing off the window leading to nothing being recorded. I appreciate this isn’t it’s intended purpose and perhaps an obvious issue that any infrared camera will have. If this option was manual - this camera could well be suitable and work well as an outdoor facing system. I’ve not rated night vision as this wouldn’t be fair. The PIR motion sensor DOES partly work through a window but it does struggle and sometimes misses entire small events or begins recording late - to be expected when glass windows are involved.I purchased this YALE product as a temporary security measure to act as a small deterrent to daytime opportunists who could scout the property in the day when nobody’s home. Unfortunately it doesn’t work at night which is a massive shame but as someone’s always home in the evening and we have the YALE Smart Home System - I’m not worried about a lack of night coverage/ don’t rely on it.For the price (£45 at time of purchase) it’s not great value for money vs. a proper outdoor camera. In fact, you can buy one for less money but for the Yale name and easy set up, it’s not overpriced either. Will I buy another to face the back garden shed? Not for £45 no. Do I regret buying it for the wrong purpose? No. It’s pretty damn good in the daytime with no wiring issues. Would I recommend? Yes - but for long term 24/7 security it would be best to look into a proper outdoor camera.

does not record
this is my second cam as first one would i could not see any vids after it had detected, after tryinf numerous sd cards , thought it would be a faulty cam , but i was wrong the second cam came and it still does show recorded videos unless i actually record on the app, (which is pointless) so its going back and getting another RING cam which is brillliant ..and secondly it took nearly a hour to get the cam connected on my network, this was exactly the same with BOTH camsi am quite tec savvy and have no problems with connecting devices to my network , i have HUE,HIVE,RING, and the yale samrt living alarm (wich is fantastic) Logitech HARMONY, connected and programmed through my home ..and as for YALE customer services ..well all i can say is USELESS , took a week to reply to first email , and in the end said cam was faulty ...stay away from this cam is useless

Average hardware let down by terrible software
The picture quality is ok and its fine if you want a camera so you can see what is happening in another room, but thats it. This goes for both the internal and external camera. The problem is the software.* It does not integrate with the Yale alarm!* Only one person can have the camera on added to their app at once and 2 people can't login at the same time, so I can't set this up so both my wife and I can view the camera.* The feature to show recordings in the app stopped working for no reason so I have to take out the SD card to check a recording.* You can't stream the video or upload it online or to a NAS so if an intruder took the camera you are out of luck.* Motion detection is terrible.I don't understand why it wont work with the Yale alarm hub.DO NOT BUY.

Very pleased with this
I've recently purchased a second one of these cameras as I was so impressed with the first one. For the price you really can't fault the quality of what you are getting. I'm using as a baby monitor so can't comment on recording functionality and for the purpose I am using it, the item is perfect. The app seems fairly robust and reliable and the video feed comes through clearly and quickly whether I am on WiFi or not. A recent update has meant you can now share video feeds with multiple Yale accounts so I have this set up on the wife's android phone (as well as my own android phone) and a shared apple ipad. We can check the feed on whatever device is to hand and listen to the audio output and even talk through the camera. The security of the Yale ecosystem seems adequate and for the price I am very satisfied. Similar nest/hive branded internal cameras that accomplish the exact same thing are 3 or 4 times the price of this.Highly recommended.

Took ages to set up correctly
The hardware itself is really goodA few caveats, it only accepts a 32gb sandisk cardNothing larger, I also had zero luck with a Samsung card.It took me weeks to get it up and running....The picture quality is excellent for a 1080p camera,The biggest problem is the software, only 1 person can log into the cameras,I also have a yale smart alarm, it is advertised to be interlinked But there is nothing of the kind,Customer services via email takes a few days to reply, only to receive 1 sentence answers,The Facebook messenger stuff is slightly quicker usually 24 hours,Being an IP camera, you can't actually access it via your internal network via the IPI wanted to put it just outside my porch, and have a live view on a tablet or screen but it just isn't possible
