I selected the Freemount Dash Kit as I didn't want to permanently attach a socket to my phone. Unfortunately, the Freemount Bracket requires some ‘tinkering’ to make it securely grip your phone.Firstly, the Fit Adjustment Pads, as they come, are coated in a slippery film, which is likely to be the mold release agent used in manufacture. To get the pads to grip, this film needs to be removed. Using a toothbrush, scrub the pads thoroughly with dish detergent until they no longer feel oily. This changes the pads from slippy to grippy! Avoid getting the central mechanism wet.Secondly, there’s a technique to getting the mount to hold a phone securely. With the jaws wide open (use the release lever to expand them) place the phone in the jaws and, using both hands, squeeze the jaws together tightly until the phone is secure and the jaws lock into position. To open the jaws, use the release lever.
