The thing it was intended to do caused it to fail. Serious design flaw.
This product is designed to hold a key. If that key somehow gets wedged under the back of the reset button inside the lock box, and then a wrong code is entered, then the reset button won’t be able to fully depress, and you won't be able to enter your correct code. Please see the pictures for clarification.I did not know this when I first contacted customer service via their convenient online chat. After I explained my issue (can’t get the buttons on the front panel to reset after a wrong code is entered), they insisted that I had programmed it wrong and/or had forgotten the code (both false). Their recommendation was to send the device in for them to manually unlock (impossible due to the fact that it is bolted to a structure from the inside).Somehow, I was able to get customer service to understand that it wasn't a programming/entering the wrong code issue (after they told me it was 100% user error that it wouldn't work anymore). Finally, a representative figured out what I was trying to say and suggested that the reset button might be jammed up by whatever was inside the box (a single house key?!). So I decided to try percussive maintenance and smacked the outside of the lock box with a heavy rubber mallet. This dislodged the key inside enough for the reset button to fully depress. There is a thin metal plate that gets pushed down behind (or, inside) the door when the reset button is pressed. It was difficult to photograph but hopefully you get the idea. The key somehow got wedged underneath this metal plate. This is a serious design flaw. Had I bought this device in order to show houses or use for Air B&B, it would have been a minor inconvenience. However I bought this to provide access to a medical alert service for an elderly family member when she is home alone. Had they entered the code wrong the first time, they would not have been able to gain access at all (save for breaking a window or something). So long story short, a single, standard house key placed on the bottom of the device might somehow work its way up into the reset button’s mechanism in such a way as to render the device completely useless. I’m going to put the key in a little magnet box inside the lock box so that hopefully this doesn’t happen again, but this is a serious design flaw.

Not secure - one screwdriver and it’s open
While I thought this was a secure way to have keys available to my bnb guests, it proved not to be secure. One pry of a screwdriver and someone had my keys. I do not recommend this box and furthermore I’d like my money back. I had to rekey 2 houses because of it.
