3" Rodent PVC Vent Screen for Horizontal Pipe Vented Furnaces, Hot Water Heaters and Boilers PVS-RS3

I purchased this vent screen for the 3-inch diameter PVC Exhaust Pipe on a high efficiency furnace. (Previously a PVC Floor Drain was being used which is a very poor choice for two reasons: 1) The flow of exhaust air was being significantly blocked and 2) During the winter when temperatures are below 32F/0C there is a high likelihood that the open area will decrease significantly further due to water vapor in the exhaust condensing and freezing in the small passages making them much smaller.)It is made of very high quality 300 Series Stainless Steel and it is beautifully fabricated. The installation was simple and very effective.I purchased this vent screen to prevent foreign objects (balls / toys), debris (leaves / sticks) and small animals (mice, birds, squirrels) from from being able to fall into the exhaust pipe and potentially block the exhaust and cause damage to the furnace and protect those small animals from pain and suffering since they likely would not be able to escape the 7-foot vertical rise in the pipe once they venture in. The screen has a minimal effect on the open area, and am very confident in its ability to work as desired for many years with no issues.Since the furnace is located a short distance from the outside wall, only a 2-inch diameter PVC Exhaust was required to be used for the furnace installation and since a 3-inch diameter PVC Pipe was used the open area is still considerably higher than what is required. If you have a 2-inch exhaust line, consider adding a PVC adapter to bring the diameter up to 3 inches and use a 3-inch vent screen instead of a smaller 2-inch screen.There was nothing else in the market that I could find that I would consider using.

Fit's our 3" intake PVC pipe perfectly. Easy to install.

After the hardware cloth rusted, fell out and sparrows built a nest in the exhaust vent shutting down my HVAC this spring, I looked into vent screens. I was confused by the sizing but after visiting the company website, determined I needed the 3 inch size which is not 3" but DOES fit perfectly inside up against the flange of a PVC 4 inch end pipe . Make sure you measure the INSIDE. These are pricey but are made of stainless steel, simple to install--hopefully will not rust and last a long time.

This product is easy to install and does exactly what it is intended to do. My only problem is... we purchased it June 15, 2017 and today I am ordering a replacement. It only made it through 3 winters. The bond between the rings is broken. The Summer screen is fine.

Made with good material. If fits perfectly in the 3”pvc pipe, that exhausts out, the fumes from our new furnace.

Very expensive but it's what I wanted. I couldn't fine anything cheaper.
