I have a couple of these and the probes keep going bad, is there a multipack of probes available? The only replacements I’ve seen on here cost $10

I have had one for years without a problem - but I just wipe the end of the probe and dry it to clean it. I guess, keeping out of the sink is a good idea. I will keep that in mind. Does this give an "instant" reading - like can you take a turkey out of the oven, insert the probe and immediately see the meat temperature?

The temperature on this and most "instant read oven and grilling thermometers takes makebe 2 or 3 seconds to settle. RTD sensors used on all of these have to settle - RTDs settle quickly. What you see on TV - instant - the "moment it's inserted" is edited. None I've seen will take more than 5 seconds. The time delay is due to probe mass - metal takes a second or two to heat up the internal sensor. I've calibrated thousands of assorted tamp gages - none is really "Instant" -that is the very moment of contact. Thermocouples are even slower. Note that the RTD resistance and curve (change over time) is not the same on all probes. They can be anything from 10-ohm to 1000 ohm depending on the accuracy. So one brand probe typically will not plug into another brand temp meter and work - even though nearly all use the 3.5mm (1/8") phone style plug. Look for a metal braided probe like ThermoPro or others. Most fail where the lead enters to probe and sharp bends will destroy the internal wires easily and quickly - DON'T COIL THOSE. These metal covered probes won't coil easily - store them loosely.

Can I use this for my grill?

Well, it says GRILL Thermo right in the item title... I wouldn't leave it in the food being measured in any case. The good thing about this thermo is that you can set the base off to the side and just probe the meat with the pointer while keeping the main unit away from the grill heat. That is a real plus, because the grill even down to 350 is Quite hot and I don't like scorching my hands and arms trying to get a reading. I'm going to get one.

Is there a way to set the temp at what I want on the thermometer and will an alarm go off when hits the temp I set it at?

Yeah, what you’ve described is the main function of this thermometer. You turn it on, and hold the temperature arrow to the direction of your desired temp. If your temp is say, 225, as soon as thermometer reading hits 225 or above, thermometer will beep loudly until you change the target temp again or turn it off. Works well for this purpose. Though the build quality on this is not great, I would spend a bit more and go for a ThermoWorks Dot which is far better built

Arrived broken.

This arrived and looked fine but the front is loose and lifts up (broken) it was taped down with 2 small pieces of double sided tape. When the front lifts up then the buttons end up stuck. Apparently I can’t return this either so pretty disappointed.

This thing works great. I picked this up over black Friday to replace an old thermometer that had water in it. This thermometer is very nice and easy to use. I made a BBQ chicken with it today and it came out perfectly moist with the help of this thermometer. I'd recommend it for grilling or roasting any big cuts of meat like chickens, turkeys, brisket, etc. It really helps with ensuring proper cooking.

I bought this as a replacement to one I had for a decade. This was very reasonably priced and it got a work out on Thanksgiving. Worked great! I used the temperature setting to get my turkey to the correct temperature. Came out beautiful.

非常に使いやすい手動の温度設定もきちんとできました取扱説明書の日本語はちょっと不思議な日本語でしたがよく読めば何とか理解できます普段肉料理ではない低温設定や揚げ物の低温設定高温設定色々使うので非常に便利だと思います指定の温度に達するとけたたましいアラームが鳴りますこれは消すことができないようです、が温度が下がれば自然に音は止まります従来のアルコールの温度計と温度差を比較しましたが 1℃程度の差がありますがおそらくこちらの方が正しいと思います写真は温泉卵を調理中のものですプローブの温度を感知する部分は先端の1cm 程度でしょうかケーブル自体もワイヤーネットで包まれているので丈夫そうです防水性があるかどうかは分かりません悩まずに早く買えばよかった

Definitely go for it! As a homebaker based in Mumbai, i recently faced a lot of fluctuation with temperature for my bombolini trials. However, this thermometer is amazing, i don't have to wait 10 mins for thermometer to display the temp. The quality is top notch and the thermometer is such an energy saver for my bombolini trials. I just leave the probe in the oil and the best part is that the thermometer has this timer as soon as it reaches the set temperature so u don't have to worry about overheating the oil I would recommend this to all the bombolini and donut maker

I've just started learning cooking, and I've noticed a significant difference in the outcome when cooking chicken or mutton with and without a thermometer. When I cook at the right temperature, using a thermometer, the results are noticeably better. It's amazing how cooking at the right temperature makes all the difference! Readability very good, sensitivity very good, durable as long as we follow the instructions which is absolutely understandable, value for money for those who need or love precision.
