It's Not OK to Feel Blue (and other lies): Inspirational people open up about their mental health

Good but very 'light'
Lots of good bits, but a little superficial, IMHO. Yes, it's good to know that it's ok to not be ok, but I feel like there's a bit of British "stiff upper lip" about it, in that 'it's ok to not be ok, but make the most of it'.As someone who has battled mental health for over 20 years, there were some good points about this, but it was fairly 'light/superficial' at times.

A missed opportunity - staying in the shallow
Quite disappointed to be honest. Perhaps I had too high expectations having read all the review comments but this turned out to be unsatisfying to me. I wish it had less number of contributors but more depth and expansion each. It feels like many of them are just dipping their toes in the water before having to rush off to a premature end. Each article is more of a starter than a main course. I love many of the contributors individually but together in this format the content feels shallow at times. It almost feels like the book has prioritised quantity and name dropping over quality and depth, of something which readers can really get their teeth into before being uprooted and having to move on to the next person’s perspective - which then again, stays on the surface simply because of its brevity. The baby sized quotes also feel like magazine style presentation gimmicks as there are just so many of them, it’s like reading Instagram! For me this was a missed opportunity to properly explore a topic that’s anything but shallow.

Didn’t Like .
Depressed people need ways forward . Yep we know that other people feel this way . Knowing that doesn’t help . Strategies help .

This is a good book
I like this book, it is helpful to learn about other people's thoughts on mental health. You can tell that the people who wrote it are trying to help people feel better. I would definitely recommend it to other people.

It’s ok not to be OK
A lifeline and a real insight into the many different ways to approach mental health and also how others articulate how they are feeling. Good for friends and families with those suffering mental health problems as it’s eloquent and easy to understand (probably easier than people attempting to explain) and also good for those with mental health problems to remember there are others out there too.
