Works great in a whole house 2-filter setup
My house has very heavy rust in our well system, as well as sulfury smell/taste. Our first filter is a basic string filter to get out the heavier sediment, and we use this filter to pick up the rest. The way it's described on the product listing, it's a little unclear as to how it's intended to be used-- whether it would reduce the water flow rate too much in a whole-house filtration system or not. The simple answer is: not. We've noticed no drop at all in our water flow rate using this filter instead of a basic carbon filter we'd find at our local big box hardware store. Is this filter better than the filters available locally? Hm... maybe. We can't get ACB filters locally, just basic carbon filters. This ACB filter gives us decent tasting water and seems to fare better for a little while longer than the basic carbon filters we used to buy locally. That said, we still only get about 4-5 weeks before the sulfur smell comes back and rust starts to stain our appliances, so this filter isn't a panacea. Short of investing in an actual water softener, though, this is the best we've come across for a reasonable price that adequately stems the tide of rust. Also, given that the price seems to drop significantly the more we order at one time, a 10-pack like this provides us with a noteworthy level of savings. Exactly why purchasing a smaller package would increase the price of the filters by such a huge amount is beyond me, but hey, I'm going to use this entire 10-pack in under a year anyway, so it's not really a big deal.

Clean water
These filter all of the water that enters our house. The water itself is normally quite good, but there are some fine solids and sometimes a little hydrogen sulfide gas and with this filter, all we get is good tasting and smelling clear water. In our situation a filter can last a year (and actually still be working well), but that may vary, it's your water situation that will concern you.

They work but require rinsing before you install.
Has a lot of carbon fines which requires a lot of rinsing just like the label says. I rinsed one of them in a 1 gallon baggie before installing it in a filter housing and rinsing it again, the water in the baggie was pretty dark. I use them for a pre filter in a RO system. The water goes through this filter which is a 5 micron filter then a .5 or 1/2 micron filter {I think the .5 micron removes a lot of the carbon fines left from these filters}. The water then goes through the Membrane to a storage tank, then through another coconut carbon .5 micron filter. The coconut carbon filters give the water a very good taste and remove a lot of harmful chemicals. I don't know if I will buy these again as they require more hassle to install with the rinsing and what they leave behind. I believe if a person used these after the RO membrane your TDS or total dissolved solids reading would be higher due to the carbon fines left behind by this filter.

They work. You can see it is time to change with dark color.
Some homes use water softeners, I use this. I bought these before and got more. No stuff in faucets anymore, not hard to change cause inlet valve is close. I have 1 hint: mount on joist with 1/4 inch bolts then opening filter is easy (nothing moves)

Great value, great filter for taste
My well water tastes terrible. By using a 1 micron prefilter in conjunction with 2 of these, I have great tasting water. It lasts me about 4 months before needing to change filters. Has been my goto filter for years.

I can't say enough positive about these filters
*** update***This box of 10 has lasted me almost 4 years. Re-buying.Orig review:I switched over to these after using Dupont and 3M. What those guys are selling is borderline criminal. Their filters are a sham. A joke. They are essentially paper filters with a thin veneer of carbon.THESE filters are granulated carbon throughout.I have well water in Minnesota and we get hydrogen sulfide in our water. (harmless in smalll quantities; smells like farts) the water also turns filters brownish/orangish.Using my old filters, I'd only get 1 week to a month out of them, and would always smell farts in the water.THESE filters... my gosh... I forget to replace them. They last so long. 4-9 months? Recently we'd been having water pressure issues that kept getting worse. I finally dinked around with the well pump and put some air in my pressure tank thing. Didn't fix it. Took a look at the water filter. The thing was just covered in Orang-y brown crap. How was water still getting through there? Switched it out to a new filter, voila. Water pressure back. The amazing thing was that we still NEVER smelled the farts. Even when water was barely getting through the filter, it was still working.I love these filters, and I hope they're always available.Freaking buy them already.3M, I know this makes me a bad Minnesotan, but you should be ashamed of yourselves for selling such crap filters at such a steep price. Go to the naughty corner.

Affordable filtering
Well designed and effective filter. More environmentally friendly that others as the amount of plastic had been reduced to minimum.

Low Flow
This was a suggested replacement for the Rainfresh CF2, which I had been using for 3+ years with no issues. However, due to supply/delivery delays on the CF2 I decided to give these a try. After installing the first filter we immediately noticed a pressure drop compared to the CF2, even though it had been in use for 3-4 months prior. I figured, well whatever, we will just use them for now and live with the reduced pressure. 2 days later the pressure drop was so bad I decided to swap with the other new one, thinking maybe there was a defect or something? Unfortunately this was not the case, another 2 days later and the second one plugged as well. I drove to a store and picked up the CF2 and have had no issues since (2 weeks now). These filters are NOT the same, do not make the same mistake I did. The flow rate simply cannot be as advertised.

Well made and fit perfect
they are really well made and the even included two silicone disc to put on each end in order to make sure of a perfect seal. I'm really satisfied ! And for the filtering quality, i'm not able to notice any differences with the Charcoal one.
