The price is decent. Don’t see a major improvement but I try to provide the nutrients my body needs. My problem is that the pills are big, and we need to take 3 at a time 2 times daily. I wish they manufactured smaller and easier pills to swallow.

This has helped my husband tremendously with his knees! I actually recommended this product to a person in Target that was shopping for something for her knee issues!

About 18 months ago I started developing tenderness and in some cases significant pain in several of my tendons & ligaments (connective tissue). I am 72 and know that connective tissue becomes more fragile as one ages and I exercise 6 days a week three of which are at the gym doing both cardio and strength. Since I am aware of the issue with age & connective tissue, when doing strength training I go for less resistance and more repetitions. I have been doing the same machines with the same resistance with the same number of repetitions for years and had previously not experienced any connective tissue issues. I saw my primary doc, rheumatologist and orthopedist but other than confirming some tearing via imaging in some cases they had nothing to offer as a solution. One of the issues with getting older is that I think some docs are too quick to ascribe issues to age rather than something that can be cured. I did some research myself developing the hypothesis that it wasn’t normal to develop problems in up to 17 locations at a time and that there might be a systemic problem possibly diet. Ligaments and tendons are made of a type of protein called collagen, specifically types 1 & 3 collagen. Collagen like all proteins is made in the body using amino acids with a ‘recipe’ specifying what quantity of which amino acids are required. Although the human gut can’t absorb collagen (you wouldn’t want it to), the human GI tract digests dietary collagen (breaks it down to the parts) into the constituent amino acids which can be absorbed in the colon and then used by the cells in muscles, tendons & ligaments to repair and/or build new muscle, tendon or ligament cells. Since there are 19 different amino acids used to make type 1 collagen and no tests to ID which amino acid(s) is lacking it doesn’t make sense to try individual amino acids such as proline. I work to maintain a healthy diet so limit consumption of eggs (cholesterol), meat (saturated fat) and nuts (kidney stones). Long story/short, about 5 days after starting the collagen supplement my connective tissue tenderness went away. After about a month, to test the causation/correlation question, I quit taking the collagen supplement and the tenderness started to come back in about 5 days. Prior to the connective tissue tenderness developing, I had been curious as to why I didn’t seem to be adding muscle mass but wasn’t trying to buff out so didn’t worry about it. A couple of months after starting the supplement I noticed that my shirts were starting to get a little tighter through the shoulders (more muscle). The directions are to take 3 capsules 2 times per day (total of 6/day). With meds, my personal belief is that less is better and only take what you need to achieve the target outcome. Consequently, I only take 1 capsule per day in the AM about an hour before breakfast which works for me. Side effects will vary but for me included occasional and very mild nausea until I had breakfast and slightly darkened stool.
