The classic art of the pen
Great fountain pen, that writes very smoothly with no tooth at all, smooth as silk across the page. I prefer light pens and this is a very light pen. Since I write with the cap posted, the balance of this pen is just perfect, its not top heavy at all and you can write for long periods without fatigue. There is no feathering of the ink, it starts right up with only minimal skip on the first stroke on occasions. This is a wet writer, but without any pooling and lines are well defined at the edges. Beautiful 14K gold nib and the classic Montblanc "ageless" style. I checked all the normal factors for authenticity, and the pen passed them all. Its larger than my Montblanc 144 and to me its the perfect size. I tried the 149 at my local Montblanc store and that pen was just way too big for my taste. The 145 is the perfect size. Yes, they are expensive, but most well made things are.

This pen is overpriced for anything this slim, light, and cumbersome.
Overall, Montblanc pens are extraordinary and feel like an extension of the hand, but this model is too slim and awkward compared to other models. This was not at all what I expected d and have used in the past.

This isn't a Chopin pen
The nib is supposed to have an etching of Chopin on it This pen does not.

Montblanc. Best in Class? My Experience: Yes.
Writing Experience | Filling | Feel | QualityWriting ExperienceNo hard starts. Smooth flow and low resistance. So low that I haven't noticed it. The nib lays down a consistent flow of ink, at least the medium nib that was included with my pen. The writing experience with this Montblanc Meisterstuck Chopin/Classique (145) is the reason I use fountain pens.FillingThis model — the 145 — is the only Meisterstuck I know of that uses a cartridge converter filler, rather than the piston type used on other Montblanc pens. There is no ink level window with this model. Some prefer the ease of use with cartridges. I prefer the converter: more ink choices, easier resupply.FeelI hardly notice the pen is in my hand. I have very big hands. Paws, actually. I have considerable difficulty finding gloves that fit. Given that, this smallish pen is a very workable size for me. I was surprised by that. It feels like an extension of my (large) hand.QualityTake a magnifying glass and view the details of almost any tool sold today. Minute flaws, misalignments, uneven paint and/or decorative elements. That is not true of this pen. The nib is a work of art. If quality is important to you, a Montblanc fountain pen is a must-have.I bought the Montblanc Meisterstuck Chopin 145 seven years ago. I wish I had bought a thousand. They've doubled in price! If it were the only pen available, I wouldn't complain.

Montblanc fountain pens are the best on the market
I have used Montblanc pens for many years and I have given these pens as gifts to my two nephews. The pen arrived without any damage because it was very carefully packaged by Amazon. I am very happy with the performance of this pen as it supplements my other pens all of which have finer nibs. I grew up with Conway Stewart pens and the wonderful Parker 51 pens but Montblanc is by far the best fountain pen that I have used.

Genuine Montblanc?
I bought this to replace a beloved Meiserstuck that I'd had for 25 years, and sadly, lost. I never like this pen from the get - go - no matter what I did, it always leaked. I finally took the pen to the Fountain Pen Hospital, where I discovered that the cartridge the pen came with was not a Montblanc cartridge, and was the wrong size for the pen. This has led me to believe that if the pen is actually a genuine Montblanc, that perhaps it was refurbished and sold as new.

Good Buy
So, first off, it is not a fake, but you will NOT get a warranty card.Next - it is unlike other MB's I have, i.e. it is very light and feels fragile - it is M but writes more like B. The ink flow is good and keeps up. It is a very wet writing pen with reasonable amount of flex in the nib should you like to flex it.I prefer fine, but given the price, I just bought the pen and asked MB to replace the nib. (it is a gold nib so it will cost you, plus given there is no warranty card, remember they will not do the complementary free replacements they typically offer). You can also explore nibmeister's, I have used them in the past and they do a better job than MB anyway!
