Davis Soil Moisture Sensor Part #6440
We have own Davis Weather Equipment for years and have never had a bad product and their support is slow but good. The Davis Soil Moisture Sensor works great but you have to soak them overnight in water "First" and make sure you put them in the the ground with a tight fit. The cable could be longer but you can extend them.

A used and clearly broken sensor was shipped
I am a very long time Davis Customer and am incredibly disappointed in Davis for shipping a clearly used and broken sensor. It arrived in a dirty ripped bag with the wires in a ball and a sensor that clearly had been in the ground already not to mention the wires were ripped off the top of the sensor. I own a ton of Davis items and never have I received such a blatantly defective part. Frankly in my mind there is no way whoever packaged this didn't know it was defective. Yes they accepted the return but now I am without a sensor for even longer and frankly haven't decided if I want to spend any more money with this company.

Davis Soil Moisture Sensor
This was delivered quickly, well packed. It was easy to install as part of my Davis Vantage Pro II weather station. It responds quickly to moisture variations and can be used at some distance from the transmitter if necessary. I have it for homeowner use, not commercial. I'm glad I got it.
