Very Nice! Taken Over 5k Photos With This So Far
Very Nice! Replaced another Koolehaoda ball head from my Koolehaoda monopod with this one. I love the quickness of the 360 degree swivel from the ball joint and fast easy on/off inserting/removing camera for taking action photos during soccer games. Replaced previous Koolehaoda only because I used it so much the nut holding the lever in place to lock/unlock the ball joint came loose, fell off, and I lost the lever and you can’t buy a replacement. I wanted to stay with the same brand because I liked the quality and the price of the first; this one does not disappoint! This one is a tiny bit heavy/sturdier than my first because of better quality (increased weight is nothing to be concerned about, minimal, I bring it up only because I did notice; 2 trips and I forgot). The locking mechanisms are rubber cushioned turn knobs instead of levers (I wasn’t sure if I’d like that because that takes more movement/effort on my part to twist as opposed to push/pull but I’ve found that the difference is nominal for this functionality and am good with it plus, it’s less parts to come loose). The added bonus (which I didn’t understand what it was when buying and almost didn’t get because I didn’t think I needed and was trying to find something with less “bells and whistles” to see if there was a lower price point out there but couldn’t so went with this one anyway) is the functionality that allows you to unlock the whole thing to turn left/right at the base; the movement is very smooth with some tension but allows me to go fast enough to track a soccer game (the knob that controls the lock/unlock with the #’s/degrees on it) - duh, this must be for video! I’m a photographer and haven’t delved into video until a couple weeks ago when I was advised it would be in my son’s best interest to have a highlights video to send to college recruiters - I’ve started taking video of his games and this feature is coming in handy; I’m so glad I have it otherwise everything would be jerky from tracking movements by hand. If I were a videographer as opposed to a photographer, I would get the Koolehaoda that has the long bar that twists to lock/unlock the base for movement left/right that would give you something to hang onto (but I’m not, the bar would get in my way; however, I’m glad the knob functionality is on this one so I have the option when I use my camera to video)

Very solid and will hold your camera rigid.

looks like it will last awhile
Have a couple of Koolehaoda products. The head is well made, looks like it will last awhile. Much better than some other offbrands I have tried

Koolehaoda is the best kept secret.
This is my third purchase of Koolehaoda's video products. Very solidly made - love the Arca Swiss quick connect system. Smooth fluid rotation & panning.

I trust this head with my expensive gear
Arca-Swiss plate, multiple usable bubble levels, heavy duty construction. There isn't much more you could ask for. Maybe numbers next to the degree marks. Though putting degree lines on was just a value adding measure most likely. You're getting amazing construction and value out of this head if you don't need fluid motion.

This head is very well put to gether and work's great .
I have used this on my tripod with my Nikon D7200 and a 300mm lens and it locks down with no falling forward once it's locked down. It does a great job just what I have been looking for and at a good price which has not broken the bank. Would recommend it to any photographer needing a quality head that at this price.
