Love the product. Only if I could get it cheaper and larger pack sizes. The amounts I consume make it expensive for me to consume on a daily basis.

I have used Weleda Blackthorn Elixir numerous times over the years and it always helps restore my vital energy after an illness or in times of stress.

`Prunus spinosa' or blackthorn is supposed to help rebalance and invigorate the body, and (like barberry) has anti-bacterial/anti-viral properties. In natural medicine blackthorn is used for stress, during pregnancy/breast feeding or against the effects of ageing when the regenerative powers of the body's natural systems start to reduce. It works by stimulating anabolic metabolism. This 200ml formulation by Weleda is claimed to be made from organic ripe sloe berries gathered from the wild, added to `biodynamically grown' lemon juice as a stabiliser. It's an elixir, a viscous brown-coloured liquid you pour into a table spoon (like cough medicine), rather than a concentrated extract for which you use a squeeze-bulb dropper. The brown glass bottle has a screw cap, and comes contained in a stiff outer cardboard box with all the product information in both English and French (the French name for blackthorn is `prunelle'). You need to refrigerate it once opened. The taste is pleasant, and you can mix the gloop into hot or cold water or tea. Effective? Difficult to tell, but because it has been used for centuries in various formulations and its popularity persists, it almost certainly has health benefits at some level.

Um wieder Kraft und Energie zu tanken, kann ich das Elexir wärmstens empfehlen. Zudem ist es auch noch sehr lecker. Man muss sich das Elexier alledings gerade bei kühleren Temperaturen erkämpfen, da es dann sehr zähflüssig ist und nur ungerne aus der Flasche kommt.

Quick delivery, and excellent quality product (as you would expect from Weleda which is one of my go-to brands). I'm currently taking this to recover from a long period of low energy levels and significant work life stresses. It feels nourishing and tastes delicious! I'll update this later to report on the health benefits... The elixir is quite thick but it doesn't bother me. Very happy with my purchase.

Bon goût

Relativ zähflüssiges Elixier aus dem Saft der Schlehen. Schmeckt sehr süß und ist dabei noch gesund. Ich habe mir nicht die Mühe gemacht, diesen mit Wasser zu verdünnen. Löst sich meiner Meinung nach einfach zu schlecht in Wasser auf. Ein Eßlöffel pro Tag hat den gleichen Effekt.

I love this Elixir! I use it to make 'Jungle Juice' (recommended by RSA midwives) to help produce more breast milk. It tastes great in the Jungle Juice and in tea. My baby has gained weight easily and is a much more settled and happier baby since using the Elixir. He even sleeps through the night from 9:30pm to 5am (not sure if it's related to using the Elixir or he is just an easy baby). I started using it from 3 weeks old and he is now 8 weeks and I use it everyday. I intend to continue using it until I start weaning. The Jungle Juice is so refreshing and I feel calm, happy, healthy and full of energy. I could only find the Elixir on Weleda website or here but chose Amazon because it's cheaper and far quicker. Delivery is always extremely quick (next day even though it says 3-5 days) and well packaged in a box with bubble wrap and padding. I highly recommend this for new mums who are breast feeding!
