it all depends on the way you want your kids to see the world
i was personally diappointed and i blame myself for not doing my homework better. I have homeschooled my boys and this is very much written through the perspective of traditionally public schooled kids. Also I found alot of his perspectives to be the opposite take away that I would have wantred for my kids . I can only use it as a way of showing them the flaws in this guys way of thinking so the rule is we only read it together so i can instill my values as well as let them hear the authors so they can make an informed decision about how they feel about certain situations.

Well intended, but a little extreme
This is a good motivational CD material. I highly recommend it.To motivate a child or teenager, you may also consider to Google and download: Tom Hopkins: How to make your dreams come trueYou may also buy the following motivational posters on Amazon:We are Champions! Great for teens trying to figure out their life path.
I liked how things were put into relatable concepts for discussion but allowed for the teen to determine how that concept would be applied in their personal life. Most of these books are written like a "you must do this" instruction guide. This is much more about ways of looking at things, then specific steps you have to take.

Great gift
Purchased as a recommended package of books for a teen/pre-teen struggling a bit with adjusting to family dynamics and the transition from elementary to middle school. Helpful book.

I ordered this for my two teenage kids. Both read it within a few days. I'm reading it now and look forward to having discussions with them regarding it.

Great teaching tool!
I am using this book and workbook to work with at-risk boys. What is amazing, though, is that the tools are useful for people of ALL ages! It's book provides a great framework for lessons that do not have to be used word for word. I'm currently using this book in conjunction with work by Dr. Brené Brown. Good stuff!
