Almost couldn't be happier!
This is a solid, well-built and light weight product that has not only cut down the time it takes me to skim my 18x36 in-ground pool, but which also grabs surface particles so finely that it leaves literally nothing, not even 1 blade of grass that would ordinarily slip through the net of other "regular" nets. This is exactly what I bought it for; to save time, and to better filter tiny bugs (even gnats) and things like blades of grass and the occasional floating scum that accummulates atop the water in the corner of the pool. It even scoops UP the scum which you would think would filter right through. It used to take me about 20 minutes to skim, and I was never satisfied with the job because small items that slip through the net would remain in the pool. Now, it takes me literally 5 minutes(!) and it couldn't do a better job! I skim and vacuum daily so this is literally saving me 1 hour and 45 minutes a week (7 hours per month)!!! Doing the full vacuum after the skimming takes me about 25 minutes so each day it's a 30 minute full job as opposed to the 45 minute time it used to take.If you're looking to save time and better filter your pool, buy this regardless of its more expensive price (please note that I am NOT a spokesperson for this company but rather am just a thrilled buyer)! It will pay you back a hundred-fold in no time with the time you save and the satisfaction you have in the cleanliness. I only wish I bought this 5 years ago when I first opened my pool! I don't even want to think about calculating how much time I've lost over those 5 years!NOTE: It does take a little getting used to because your skimming strategy used with a normal one doesn't work as well with this one and you might start losing debris when you skim around the edges and corners of the pool. It takes a slight bit more of a skilled/controlled concentrated effort but with a little ingenuity and patience you'll figure out what works best for you, you won't lose debris, and then you'll realize you should have bought this sooner.

Has Pro's and cons
I have a regular sized purity silt leaf rake which I'm very happy with. I get a lot of stuff on my pool surface when the wind blows, so I thought this beast might be worth a shot. For me, it does "okay" with the main area, saving a little bit of time during the actual skimming process. But I can go very quick with my normal leaf rake and be more precise near the edges and corners, it's a matter of technique. The big cons of this 48-inch pull rake are as follows. I thought it would fold for storage, it does not. Not a big deal but a disappointment, and with so much exposed net it's just a matter of time before an accidental rip occurs. As it fills with debris, emptying the debris is messy. If you shake it over the ground, no problem, but to move the debris into a smaller yard waste bin is messy. It's a 4 foot with depth net that needs to be horizontal to do a decent job of shaking it clean. Also, when skimming I found that hiking the net out at a distance often caused the net to fold in on itself, not a big deal but quickly diminishing the one advantage over the smaller leaf rake.To put it into perspective, if I have about 10 pounds of pine needles floating in my pool, I can remove every last one of them with the small rake in about 5-10 minutes, my pool is defined as "large" at 25,000 gallons. With the 4 foot rake it takes about the same time when you count the time for changing over to the small rake to get what the big one can't get at and the debris removal overhead. I don't find the job to be much easier, although I will use the big one if there is very light debris evenly dispersed due to lack of wind. Not my favorite purchase.

Worth having
I really like the Purity POol SKR48SLT SkimmerRake 48 Professional 48-inch Surface Pull-Rake silt model leaf rake. I ike the 48" size. This rake is worth having if you have a lot of organic debris that breaks down into small parts, like leaves. It gets rid of all the little bits of debris that a standard leaf rake can't filter. And with 48" it works fast. The critique I have is the "pull" design. There are 2 problem 1) when you cast the rake, the soft and floppy silt screen flops inside itself, then when pulling, the net behaves like there is no depth, ie it is easy to release the particles you have captured if you pause at all. 2) My pool has a fence and a lot of foliage within 3 feet of the edge, on most of the edges. Because it is a pull design my 9' aluminum pole is forced to be horizontal, and in order to get the rake to the edge of the pool the rod must be 6 feet beyond the fence and/or the foliage (9'-3'=6'). Inevitably the pole is banging around on the fence or the foliage making it difficult to use this rake. Please please make a standard mount version so my pole can be vertical while skimming!

SAVES TIME
Made in USA. Saves a lot of time. Little bit of a learning curve, but worth it. Everything this company makes is professional grade. Yes, it's 48 inches wide, has a shallow net, and catches large and small particles on top of the water. After a week of using it, you should be very efficient with using this different style of skimmer. You don't flop it around like a regular net, this one you place it on the water about half submerged, and pull it towards you, and you can drag it behind as you walk around if you'd like. Call also clean the floor, need to do the skipping action while pulling it towards you. Great for cleaning off solar covers too. I only have a small 15,000 gallon pool, but glad I got this net. I leave the debris in the net and empty it when it's dry, after shaking it all to one end. Connects to standard pool pole everyone has.
